Fabulous visit to Lake Bittersweet. THE CRUSH is the sixth in Jennifer Bernard’s Lake Bittersweet series, set in lovely Minnesota. It’s beautifully written, and Galen and Brenda are a sheer delight. Galen Cooper is one of the owners of Lake Bittersweet Wilderness Adventures, and his shaggy appearance reinforces his ease and expertise with the outdoors. He’s long admired Brenda McMurray Bogosian, a teacher at the local elementary school. When they finally have occasion to meet, the sparks get to smoldering and more… Jennifer Bernard’s characters spring to life and captured my heart with their honesty and vulnerability. I loved seeing Galen and Brenda getting to know each other and coming to appreciate their unique strengths and selves. Their families play vital parts in their lives, and the Lake Bittersweet community does as well. The Crush is a stellar read, and a terrific visit to Lake Bittersweet.

A sweet crush to a passionate reality. This is an incredible romance! Galen will melt your heart. He is unassuming and honest. He may look "uncivilized", but he is a teddy bear to those he cares about. His crush on Brenda is sweet and charming especially when he gets flustered. Brenda is attracted to Galen even with his unshaven face and wild hair. She is drawn to him and his pure heart. The drama of the story is riveting. Brenda's judgmental mother disapproves of almost everything she does, so Brenda goes into a tailspin whenever her mother is around. It is her grandmother, CeCe that is her champion and tries to bolster Brenda up and support her life decisions...and Galen is not someone Brenda's mother thinks is worthy of her daughter's affection. It is a bumpy road for Galen and Brenda in their professional and personal lives. It is CeCe who reminds everyone through a very touching and emotional story of how special Lake Bittersweet is. I love this book and all of the characters. It is feel good must read!

The Crush. This quirky small town of Lake Bittersweet is constant entertainment and I've loved it from the start. This is a wonderfully, sweet story with perfect humor and a whole lotta spark. The chemistry, emotions, and fun were just a delight from start to finish. Galen and Brenda's story is beautifully written and will stay with you long after the end.

Up next is Galen Cooper and Brenda McMurray’s story and what a story it is..the mountain man, Galen has had a crush on Brenda since she came to town almost 2 years ago but because of some childhood trauma he believes he can not find a forever love. This story takes you on a journey of discovery, honesty, meddling family, steam, witty banter, not playing games and so much more… I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from the author. So good! Love their love!. Y’all! I read this in one night! I could not put it down. I’ve read the entire Lost Harbor Series and this was the same for me. I couldn’t stop reading and when it did end I wanted more. Jennifer is amazingly awesome at drawing you in and keeping you there. I could see it all in my mind. I love when that happens. Becoming so absorbed in the story that everything else falls away. Galen and Brenda have my heart! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I started them out of order but I will go back and read them all.

I love Galen and Brenda. Galen is now my new favorite Cooper sibling. This book sucked me in from the beginning and I read it in one sitting. Readers get ready for an emotional, beautifully written story about two people that have been hurt in the past but are perfect for each other. Galen has had a crush on Brenda since he saw her taking her stuff into the elementary school as a new fourth grade teacher. Luckily, Olaf finally brings them face to face, when he gets away from Brenda and dashes into Galen’s office intent on getting some freshly caught fish, lol. Does Brenda find out about his cripush then? No, she does not. I loved how the author gave us such descriptions when Brenda and Galen were on their journey to Ladybird Rock that we could envision ourselves right there with them. She still does learn of his crush, even as they’re stranded during a storm. Will she ever find out? No spoilers, so grab your copy and get ready to fall in love with Galen Cooper. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Entertaining and Heartwarming. Another visit to Lake Bittersweet and another great read from the very talented Ms Bernard. If you love small town romances look no further than Galen and Brenda’s story in The Crush ( Lake Bittersweet #6). Brenda is new in town and is looking for a friend, what she didn’t expect was to fall hook, line and sinker for Galen….. This book ticked all my boxes, I fell hard and fast for Galen, I adored Brenda because she is just the friend I need in my corner and let’s not forget her interfering granny because once you add her in you get a delightful, witty read. The banter is witty, the chemistry is sizzling but it’s the love that makes this a wonderful heartwarming journey.

Loved it. This was an entertaining read that ticked all the boxes for me. From the first chapter to the last I was hooked on Galen Cooper and Brenda McMurray’s story. The attraction that sizzled between Galen and Brenda was impossible to ignore. I fell hard and for Galen, such a swoon worthy man who I adored whilst Brenda is someone I could call a friend, add in her interfering granny and I was hooked. Brenda is new in town and the sparks fly when she and Galen meet. I loved everything about The Crush, it made me feel good and don’t get me started on the witty banter. The Crush is a heartwarming romantic lover story that held me captive from the first chapter.
