Romanticizes unhealthy relationships. This story was very disappointing and I feel sad for the young girls and boys who may read this and think the behaviors of Miles and the feelings from Tate are healthy. Tate constantly says things like I know this is a red flag but… I hate myself around him… I’m scared of him and his reactions. Young boys and girls who read these types of stories, please recognize this behavior is extremely unhealthy and could easily lead to an abusive relationship in real life. Do not think that if you love someone else enough you can “save them.” Someone who truly loves you will make you feel respected and more yourself. Of course, in real life we can meet people who changes our lives, people who love and support a partner while they address their trauma and work toward healthier behaviors. This could have been a story of learning healthy strategies of surviving trauma and redemption depicting the healing journey. Instead it completely romanticizes unhealthy relationships and abusive behaviors. I gave 1 star because it was a quick read and the potential this story could have had.

The most beautiful story. I cried so much!! Amazing writing and story telling, I fell in love with each character. To say I’m obsessed would be an understatement. I love this book so much!! 10/10.

Ugly Love. I can’t begin to express how much I enjoyed this book. I absolutely loved Tate, she is the type of main character that it’s so easy to empathize with and fall in love with. Unraveling Miles throughout the novel was absolutely heart wrenching. I physically couldn’t put the book down. So so in love with this book!!

Fifty Shades of Gray Clone. As much as I have loved the books by Colleen Hoover, this one disappointed me the most. Page after page after page of sex. Gets old after a while.

Very good. I’m not saying it’s good just to ride the bandwagon. Thoroughly reading this book and looking back at some of the things that happened.. just wow. The flow of the story was good. Flipping from past to present and understanding the reason why one character was a certain way. Figuring out how to love again, it was beautiful. I wish I could read it for the first time again! Also the it had enough spice for me lol!

I was kinda confused on the title but after you read it it all connects. literally what got me back into reading best book ever!

Just odd. The first time reading this book I did enjoy it, but the more I thought about it the less I actually found it interesting. Now I just find parts of this book odd and makes the whole vibe weird.

This book got me reading books again. Haven’t ever picked up a book for pleasure, figured I would start reading again at the thought of me becoming illiterate.. took a friends recommendation and I was so glad I did! This book was an easy read, I finished it in a day, couldn’t put it down! This was my first Hoover read, and I cant wait to read the rest!

Ugly love. This has to one of my favorite books that I have read from her it was sooo sooo sooo good!!!! I cried so hard and I just felt the love from the beginning

WHY!!!. It's like Colleen purposefully makes us feel so warm on the inside with her books and then you get that “emotional damage” meme come up in a snap. I hate how much I love these books because of the PTSD each character in her books has. This woman needs to chill out and give us a break for once. God only knows what awaits us in It Starts With Us!! Love you Colleen!!!

Decent but slow. Finding myself more than halfway through the book bored and feeling let on by the mystery of what “it” was. Took too long to reveal the past.

Loved it. Absolutely love this book, sat down on a Sunday morning and had it finished by that evening. I loved the characters in the way the story built with the anticipation.

i didnt like it. not sure why this has such overwhelmingly good reviews. for one thing, everything about the book is boring...boring characters, boring setting, boring plot. i didn't really find myself enjoying any part of it. for another thing, this book has incredibly toxic undertones and the fact that it has a happy ending is so disappointing. miles walks all over tate for the entire book, using his unresolved issues as an excuse. hes totally smeowelfish for the entire story and then gets rewarded for it by the end. i would be fine if it didnt end in happily ever after, but the fact that it ends with them getting together is just romanticizing abuse. colleen hoover seems to have a recurring theme in her books of toxic, abusive men. i wish she would stop romanticizing these kinds of relationships one thing i will give her though, is that it is very well written. it had some good elements that ended up coming together cohesively in the end. still, though, not worth reading

Ugly love. This book is literally the best book I’ve ever read in my life. I felt so much emotion. Pain, anger, hopefulness, and happiness. It’s one of those books you just can’t quit reading until it’s finished and then you’re distraught because it is finished. 10/10 recommend!!!!

Worth the read. Sad to say but I predicted the end from the second chapter from Miles perspective. Also the writing from his teenage perspective really threw me off? I still loved the feel good moments and the roller coaster ride of emotions this book brought me to. Definitely worth a quick read, but not my favorite of her books hence the 3 stars.

It was okay.. I wouldnt consider this one of my favorites just because it took forever to get to the point of Miles story. Basically toward the end of the book. It dragged on quite a bit, but nonetheless the ending made me tear up!

Great Book,. This book was great! Definitely a page turner. It ended great I just wish there was another book on their lives for the next few years after having Sam. I could keep reading on and on forever.

So much meaning. Loved this book from the moment I started to read it. I could hardly put it down! The relationships were so real and it really makes you stop and think about life. I cried and laughed and to me, that is a great book! I will be thinking about this one for a long time.

It was good buttt….. loved this book!! I just wish we got more from Miles. It felt like we only really got to see Tates pov the whole book until like the last couple chapters where we finally see how Miles feels about this whole situationship. I was a great book and you should give a read.

5 Amazing Stars!. When Tate meets Miles, she falls madly in love with him. But Miles is broken and he can’t ever love her ... he only wants sex. His rules are: she can’t ask about his past and he can’t give her a future. Tate agrees because she believes that he’ll change his mind and fall in love with her. This book just broke my heart! I wanted to hate Miles because he treated Tate like crap ... but I just knew that he did it to protect his heart because he had been hurt badly in his past. Ms Hoover sure knows how to drag you through the mud before you find out the whole story ... she’s really good at that. I laughed, I hated, I got mad, I swooned and I cried ... boy, did I cry. An absolutely amazing book!

Another Amazing Read. I cannot even describe how beautiful this novel is. I am left utterly speechless. It was beautiful, heart-rendering, life changing all at the same time. I have felt a similar pain to Miles, wondering if I could ever love someone. This novel captivated me, and lured me in. To Colleen Hoover, thank you. All the beautiful moments are worth the ugly love.

BOYS OH BOYS.. If you wanna cry and go through a wave of emotions then read this book. At times I was just screaming about the characters. Wanting to throw my phone but at the same time I couldn’t stop reading. This book sums up everything emotion with go through with love and grief. It’s tremendously heart wrenching and heart warming.

Ugly Love. This book is one of the best books I've ever read. It's so emotional and deep and just wonderful. Even though I wasn't a fan of the names of the characters, the characters themselves were awesome! This was a beautiful book and a great read for people who love romance.

Speechless.. Honestly, I was going through a rough patch in my own life which lead me to picking up a CoHo book, and it was by far the best decision I’ve made. The writing was so detailed and structured in a way that isn’t only touching but very telling of each characters thoughts and perspectives. Books like these I wish there were more of. Something was simply different about this book than the others for me, it made me feel like I was looking forward to something after work and ending the day. I’m typing this up, eyes swollen, at 3:33 AM. Might just be sleep deprived, but I would marry this book if it were a person. 100/10, loved it so much I cannot explain through words. Also, the names “Tate” and “Miles” are so cute, liked them more than other book character names. Thank you for this masterpiece Colleen Hoover, I wish you great luck for your upcoming books, thank you for getting me out of a reading slump. 🙏

felt like a well written fanfic. the book wasn’t terrible but felt very overhyped. tate has no backbone and was not a likeable character. many people said that this story does not follow tate, as a main character and i agree. this is a story about a throuple in a way and it makes it hard to empathize. you could save your money and go onto wattpad and read a story that’s relatively the same, just with more spelling mistakes. there were some enjoyable parts but all in all felt very corny. i may try out some of her other books to give her another chance but if they all follow the same scheme then i am not a fan.
