Captive Prince Book Reviews
Captive Prince by C. S. Pacat Book Summary
From global phenomenon C. S. Pacat comes the first novel in her critically acclaimed Captive Prince trilogy.
Damen is a warrior hero to his people, and the rightful heir to the throne of Akielos, but when his half brother seizes power, Damen is captured, stripped of his identity, and sent to serve the prince of an enemy nation as a pleasure slave.
Beautiful, manipulative and deadly, his new master Prince Laurent epitomizes the worst of the court at Vere. But in the lethal political web of the Veretian court, nothing is as it seems, and when Damen finds himself caught up in a play for the throne, he must work together with Laurent to survive and save his country.
For Damen, there is just one rule: never, ever reveal his true identity. Because the one man Damen needs is the one man who has more reason to hate him than anyone else...

Amazing. Read this book in a day, couldnāt put it down!
Not the romance i was expecting.. Started strong, ended strong, the middle had way too much sadism and rape. The whole slave thing lasted too long for my tastes, it simply made me sad and disgusted for no apparent reason. I was also expecting a romance, which definitely does not occur in this book (although we see the seeds of one). However, the writing was good and I really enjoyed the political aspects! The middle almost made me put down the book, but the end makes me consider book 2. All in all, I still finished it within 24-36 hours. It certainly is different, I would give it a try if you donāt mind the submissive slave themes.
Best MM series I've ever read!. Best MM series I've ever read, and I have read many.
Great read. Amazing book love it!
Wow. I'm actually coming back to this after reading the last book and all I can say is wow. This author had me enthralled from page 1. The details woven into this trilogy are the signs of a great author. I've read a book a day and I'm already set to start them all again.
Great series. Loved this book! Great characters, intense politics, and amazing world building! I'm glad i stumbled onto this book.
Gotta push through. Iāll admit the goodreads reviews on this first book of the trilogy are pretty accurate, thereās very little plot and I certainly wouldnāt think of this book as a romance. That being said if you push through the eh of this book youāre sucked into the plot picking up during second and third of the trilogy. Just be prepared for some slow burn
Captive Prince. Wanted erotic... got sadism & torture. DNF
absolutely amazing. ohhhh my god i love this book so much, have to read, so much better than the first book and i didn't know that was possible
A true trilogy. Read this and I can almost guarantee that youāll read the other two parts of this trilogy. Thoroughly enjoyed all three books.
Amazing!. Honestly this is such a good book!! The characters are deep and sophisticated, the twisting political intrigue is incredibly captivating and every detail revealed about the world is absolutely fascinating. I all three books in a weekend and am planning on rereading them soon!
Can I give this more than five stars????. Yeah. Itās that good. A friend I know recommended this book to me, so I bought it. Going to be honest, I didnāt read it for a solid year or more. I finally decided to sit down and give the first chapter a try. Needless to say, I finished it in less than two days. Totally worth reading. I just bought the second book and am currently eating that one up, too!
Worth every penny. I think my biggest pet peeve with this book specifically is that itās classified under āromanceā, and thatās not exactly what you get in this first installment of the Captive Prince trilogy. And since itās labeled āromanceā and has the term āpleasure slaveā thrown in there too, readers might come with these high expectations of something they wonāt necessarily find here. This isnāt an outright romance/erotica read right off the bat. I think people should mind the trigger warnings: thereās rape, thereās torture, thereās pedophilia. Then again, fanfictions have this stuff too and so does Game of Thrones, in a way that makes Captive Prince seem much more tame with the subjects in comparisons. With that aside, this series as a whole has an intricate, compelling story filled with political intrigue and amazingly crafted characters. I have caught myself cursing aloud, laughing, crying, and slamming my hand on the dinner table on more than one occasion. If I were to recommend one thing is to read the books one after the other. Theyāre not long, and what Captive Prince does is craft the framework of the story for the second and third books. It is a romance, just not in this book. I actually asked myself a couple of times how exactly was Pacal going to pull if off after reading the first book. Well, she does, in the most beautiful way. I wholly recommend this book, and the other two as well. Give it a try. If you loved the intricacies of the political battlefield of series like Game of Thrones, youāll love this one too.
Captive Prince. Extraordinary story. This would make an epic and masterful movie. It seems, in a sense, that it is similar to Lord of the Rings in that in my mindās eye, as I read, it is a visually stunning tale. It kept me enthralled in a way a book has not done in quite a while. The point where it leaves off to the next book is perfect.
Not what I hoped. I was excited for a primarily lgbt fantasy story, but found myself disappointed in the end. This first book is short and ends on an unsatisfactory note. I find that inexcusable personally as it was 20.00. But aside from that the story, the characters and the setting are strange and almost aimed towards very specific kinks. The book is highly sexual, which doesnāt bother me at all, but the sex revolves around rape, lack of consent, slaves and pedophillia. Not exactly what I was hoping for. This felt like half of the first book as it ended abruptly and without any sense of satisfaction or conclusion to the current story. I am at a loss to be honest. The characters also made senseless choices that logically made no sense. Why the main character is allowed to behave the way he does, break rules and suffer little consequence is hard to swallow. The villain was spotted a mile away before its true reveal so it lacked the surprise element for me too. This felt more like a mix of erotica and loose story telling with the specific sex kinks fantasy. I didnāt enjoy it much aside from reading a story where being gay was normalized. This part was drowned out by the fact that literally every character was bisexual and horny 24/7. I donāt think I will continue the series as there wasnāt enough for me to be interested in it.
Fun, quick read. This is a great little novel that is fast paced and well written. I got through it in just a few hours and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading the rest!
Donāt botheršš¼. Was hoping for a romance and all there included was abuse, rape, sadism, torture, and beats. Not my idea of a romance. Didnāt get it and didnāt enjoy it either.
Underrated mlm trilogy. This series is so cleverly put together! Highly recommended for those who like things like Game or Thrones.
Loved. I enjoyed it, wish the book didnāt end so soon but good thing thereās two more left!

Iām in love. These two own my heart now. The whole trilogy is amazingly written and thought out. Warning, even to you caste iron b*tches, you will experience feels. A lot of em. So, go grab your tricycle, and get ready to 3rd wheel in the best way possible.
Captivating. I read this book in one night. A story of twists and turns in a royal court kept all my attention. If you're expecting a romance novel, this is not it. It feels like a game of thrones. The writing, expressed with meticulously chosen words, was a joy to read.
Great Read!. I've reread this series time and time again. Definitely an enjoyable read!
