Death in the English Countryside by Sara Rosett Book Summary

Even quaint and cozy English villages have a dark side . . .

Location scout and Jane Austen aficionado, Kate Sharp, is thrilled when the company she works for lands the job of finding locations for a new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but then her boss fails to return from a scouting trip to England. Kate travels to England to salvage the company’s reputation.

Things go from bad to worse when Kate arrives in Nether Woodsmoor, a quaint village of golden stone cottages and rolling green hills, only to find no trace of her boss. Even the rumpled, easygoing local scout they consulted, Alex, doesn’t know where he might be.

Increasingly worried about her boss and with an antsy director waiting for updates about the preproduction details, Kate embarks on a search that includes a pub-crawl and cozy cottages as well as stately country manors. But with no sign of her boss, she begins to suspect that the picturesque village and beautiful countryside may not be as idyllic as they seem.

Death in the English Countryside. A fun book and good mystery

4 - 4 1/2 stars. Well written. Great grasp of details and nuance. I am a Jane Austen fan. Really appreciated this mystery and flirtation...

Great Read. Loved this one.

Death in the English Countryside. Such a great mystery read! I loved reading about the characters in this charming English countryside, as Kate rushes against time to solve the Murder of he boss.

Enjoyed Death in the English Countryside. Loved the inside look at scouting movie locations and the Austin link. Although I do love P and P, my favorite novel is Persuasion.

Death in the English Countryside. Some very good plot twists and some of the characters were very well developed. All in all an enjoyable book. Thanks, g

Death in the English Countryside. Slow start. Sweet, predictable, easy reading with lots of description.

Death in the English Countryside. This series is my new found favorite. I love the characters, setting and plot twists. A fun who-done-it.

Great Suspense Reading. Enjoyable, relaxing, easy great suspense book. Everyone should add this to their reading list..

My new favorite author.. Sara Rosett writes an excellent cozy mystery with Death in the English Countryside. My favorite part of any book are the descriptions of the houses, old buildings, stone bridges, and of course the countryside. With Sara Rosett’s descriptions I am there, feeling the rain and looking at the beautiful golden stone bridge.

A sweet little murder mystery. Simply A sweet little murder mystery with wonderful atmosphere and well rounded characters. An effortless, pleasant read.

Thourghly Enjoyable Read. Loved the characters and all things English countryside.

Death in the English Countryside. Great book! I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and characters. I could almost picture the beautiful English countryside. Also, a page turner and I had to read the entire book in a day just to see the ending.

Cute. Really cute and quick read. Makes you want to travel across the pond.

Death in the English Countryside. Excellent cozy mystery. Quite tasty!

Death in the Countryside. Excellent, except that reign and rein should not be used interchangeably.

Death in the English Countryside. Great! Two plots running side by side til the end!

Death in the English Countryside. This is the first Sara book that I’ve read. I’ll be back for more. This author has developed her characters in a convincing way. Kate is the spunky ‘Nancy Drew’ that we always need in a light mystery. Most often I spot the killer fairly soon in this genre, but not so this time. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the requisite hunk Alex is a well-mannered yet manly fellow. All the women except the murderer are attracted to his charm. How could I have missed that? Glad to hear Kate and Alex will be scouting locations in the next book. The Jane Austen element is a winner for me. You, too?

Death in the English Countryside. Great book! I enjoyed the trip to England through this story! Some good storylines running with the mystery of Kevin’s death made this an excellent read.

Death in the English Countryside. Enjoyed the book. Kept my interest. Didn't know "who did it" until it was revealed.

Good book. Full of interesting people and descriptions of the countryside. The plot was ok, but if it was a whodunit, it didn’t make the grade. I still would read it for the characters

Location, location, location. Very true for this story, however, not in a good way. In trying to get the best location, one murder committed, one murder averted. A nice easy going English country town has its share of excitement, but it is hard to say more without giving the story away. I’ll just say it is a very good and enjoyable read.

Death In The English Countryside. Engaging characters and plot make this a very good read!

Death in a English Countryside. Wonderful story with a great ending and No Graphic Sex. Thank you. Kept me guessing until the End.

Death in the English countryside. What a fun book! I loved it, loved the loose attachment to pride and prejudice. Loved the romance wrapped in with a murder. Very fun, and will go and buy the next in the series with Kate and Alex!!! N

Death in the English Countryside. It is so refreshing to read a spellbinding mystery that is not filled with sex and gore. Let my imagination handle those. Plus, this author is a military spouse. As one myself, I really appreciate her success.

Death in the English Countryside. I live in County Down,N.Ireland and so the setting for the novel was of particular interest. The background requirements were obviously well researched and did lend an air of authenticity to the whole novel. I enjoyed the plot and the gradual unravelling of the “who done it”Eve was my culprit!!Nice when the author confirms it!! The characters were beautifully described and had an “air of the English”about those who lived locally. I would certainly recommend this book, perhaps for a Cosy Read.

Great English Murder Mystery. This book kept me reading all night and until I fell asleep at 11am! Having never flown intercontinental and never suffered jet lag I’m probably going to find out how the main protagonist feels after flying LAX to England! This is a lovely cozy murder mystery with Jane Austen influences. I hated doing Pride and Pejudice at school and was glad when I changed schools and my new school was reading Jayne Ayer but after reading this I’m about to reread P&P to see if it’s more interesting so not only is this a great cozy mystery but it’s influenced me enough to get curious about P&P and Northanger Abbey ! I’m probably going to read the next in the series first though. My new fave binge read series!

Good story. I enjoyed the book. The connection to Pride and Prejudice is woven lightly into the story and I look forward to reading more.

Slow moving story , but enjoyable. This book was a little hard to read at times. It got too slow in places while explaining details and the thought processes of characters. I enjoyed the ending, and the information on what everybody did next.

Death - English Countryside. Kate is sent off on the errand of finding her MIA boss. While following the clues as to where he may be she meets Alex, another location scout. Together they find that the sleepy little village has it all mystery, intrigue, scandal, murder and possibly romance.
