One of the most beloved romantic comedies of 2020, Love Lettering is a heart-melting and touching story that fans of Tessa Bailey, Jen DeLuca, and Emily Henry cannot miss.

In this warm and witty romance from acclaimed author Kate Clayborn, one little word puts a woman’s business—and her heart—in jeopardy . . .

Meg Mackworth’s hand-lettering skill has made her famous as the Planner of Park Slope, designing custom journals for her New York City clientele. She has another skill too: reading signs that other people miss. Knowing the upcoming marriage of Reid Sutherland and his polished fiancée was doomed to fail is one thing, but weaving a secret word of warning into their wedding program is another. Meg may have thought no one would spot it, but she hadn’t counted on sharp-eyed, pattern-obsessed Reid.

A year later, Reid has tracked Meg down to find out how she knew that his meticulously planned future was about to implode. But with a looming deadline and a bad case of creative block, Meg doesn’t have time for Reid’s questions—unless he can help her find her missing inspiration. As they gradually open up to each other, both try to ignore a deepening connection between them. But the signs are there—irresistible, indisputable, urging Meg to heed the messages Reid is sending her, before it’s too late . . .

Cute Diversion. Sweet romance with a clever and quirky main character. A fun weekend read.

Beautiful Story!. This novel was a joy to read. Gentle and brave in its depictions of love, friendship, and family, I know it will stick with me. Highly recommend!

Love is in the signs. What a remarkably charming and sweet story—not just of love, but also of rediscovering one’s true self in the eyes of another. I was captivated by the not-romance of Meg and Reid’s unfurling friendship. Clayburn’s language and the ways she reveals the hidden meanings and messages in letters and signs is so touching and very real. I loved this book!!

Love Lettering. First time reading this author, and I am so glad I did. This is not a romcom, but it is a very different and interesting kind of love story. It’s about friendships and about two very different people who fall in love when one is planning a wedding to someone else.

Swoonsh. 4.5 stars Love Lettering was such a wonderful surprise. I was already intrigued after reading the chapter preview and now, after finishing the book, I can safely say that I am in love with Kate Clayborn's writing style and sense of humor. The book was heartfelt and emotional at times, but also uplifting and hilarious. There were even a few plot twists that I didn't see coming. Meg was such a relatable heroine. I loved her inner monologue and many of the thoughts racing through her mind had me laughing out loud. I really enjoyed the gradual build up between her and Reid. Their connection felt organic, as they came to understand and appreciate the other. All of the lingering glances, the subtle (and not quite so subtle) gestures, and barely there touching, had me swooning. I'm a sucker for the Masterpiece Theatre style intimacy and tenderness that Meg so often references in regards to Reid's manners. I would have loved if the big reveal at the end and it's resolution would have been hashed out more face to face, but I understand the reasoning and significance of it being presented and resolved the way it was. The slow burn/opposites attract romance between her and Reid was wonderful, but what I loved most was Meg's journey and how she really came into her own through the course of the novel. I appreciated the focus on friendships and how they can fracture and break down, but also grow and evolve. One of my favorite parts of the novel was the discussion that Meg has with Lachelle about learning how to figuratively fight. "... sometimes fighting isn't about leaving, it's about staying. It takes practice to get it right, and it's painful, but if you want to stay with people, you do it." Love Lettering was a witty and beautiful novel that I truly wanted to savor. The epilogue left me just the right amount of warm and fuzzy and I can't wait to read more books by Kate Clayborn. Note: If you're not a fan of hand lettering or fonts, it's possible that the descriptions and level of detail that the book goes into about how Meg sees the world and all of its signs, will be a bit overwhelming. It's clear that the author took a lot of time researching the topic and my font/lettering loving heart couldn't get enough! *I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*

Loved this book!. Not just a romance - a contemporary love story. Read it, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend.

Loved this lyrical romance. Kate Clayborn just keeps getting better with every book she writes! Her books are filled with so much heart and intense feelings, yet they are quiet books that don’t need overwrought plots to score an emotional bullseye. On the face of it, Meg and Reid don’t seem to have much in common. She’s a brilliant artist who expresses herself through exquisite calligraphy (lovingly and meticulously described in the book) who is inspired by everyday signs, letters and fonts throughout bustling NYC while Reid is quiet and introspective, a true “numbers” guy who takes comfort in patterns and regularity and is feeling worn down by the neverending energy of the city. Yet somehow, they come together to form a beautiful whole. They complete and inspire each other to be their best selves, and really, isn’t that what we all deserve in our partner? This was such an great romance to end my year with and left me with a lovely warm glow. In addition to the central romance, I also loved the way Meg was presented as a complete person. So many times in romance, the only well developed relationship is the one between the two leads, but in this book, Meg was also dealing with the apparent withering of her oldest friendship as well as the start of a new one and both were perfectly depicted and added depth and maturity to the basic plot and to the character development. I highly recommend this romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Perfectly sweet. I really enjoyed this book. I was sweet and lovely and drew me in immediately. I love a comfy, engrossing read.

A different kind of love story. I enjoyed the characters and the love story. It was a contemporary love story and not my usual style, but I stuck with it and found it pretty good. I especially loved Reid’s character.

Really enjoyed. I’m giving this 4 stars even though I did love this book because I almost gave up on it. The beginning didn’t click with me but I kept up with it & I’m so very happy I did. Great characters with depth friendships that were real a story that you can relate too. Looking forward to reading more of this author’s books.

So beautiful and heartfelt!!. It is indeed a slow burn romance, but the communication and growth we see between characters is amazing. Great main characters and an interesting plot make this book a must-read!

That Clark Kentish hero you didn't know you needed. I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn is definitely on my list of books I loved 2019. I liked it so much I read it twice. Meg Mackworth a calligrapher, is in one of those dips we all go through in our lives, her professional life is at a crossroads she’s moderately successful as the Planner of Park Slope but is not sure that she wants to continue in that direction and she has what could be a huge opportunity if only she could work her way through the creative block that has her stymied. On the personal front her relationship with her best friend has drifted in a limbo state where although they still share an apartment they no longer spend time together or really talk and she’s walking on eggshells trying to figure out how to make it work again and not knowing why it’s like this. So when a former client Reid Sutherland walks into the shop where she is working wanting to know why and how she knew his up-coming marriage was a mistake it’s a bit of a wake-up call and she asks for his help in overcoming her creative standstill and together they explore the city she loves and he hates. This is a witty friends to lovers story with a lovely slow burn and a Clark Kent hero who’s buttoned down and nerdy but really hot and hiding a big secret. Medium Steam.
