The Trial Book Reviews
The Trial by Franz Kafka Book Summary
The Trial (original German title: Der Process, [1] later Der Prozess, Der Proceß and Der Prozeß) is a novel written by Franz Kafka in 1914 and 1915 but not published until 1925. One of Kafka's best-known works, it tells the story of a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed neither to him nor the reader.

Terrible. It’s hard to understand how this book was considered one of the greatest of its era..... Opening this book was a daily battle. I’ve read college textbooks better than this. I really can’t overstate how bad this book is. Just a collection of over detail that really doesn’t tie into the story whatsoever. I usually have a high a turn around time on books but this one took me a couple of months because I dreaded reading it. If you’re thinking about reading this book, do yourself a favor and don’t. I’m elated to be done with it.
Good. Good
Not Franz Kafka's "The Trial". This translation of "The Trial" is not the original by Willa and Edwin Muir; the version most ubiquitously reproduced and most accepted as the closest translation. I strongly recommend purchasing Willa's and Edwin's version of Kafka's novel over the one offered in the iBookstore --albeit free; or for those fluent in German, to purchase "The Trial" in its original format, as intended by the author. After reading a few pages of different sections of this iBookstore version, I noticed that the writing only somewhat resembled that of the translation previously recommended by me. This iBookstore version, while retaining most of the novel's essence, does not contain the eloquence and quality of writing with which the original was made.
The Trial. You’ve got to be kidding me.
The trial. This book just grows on you. Kafka meanders a lot and each chapter is like an episode. But last two chapters are just too powerful.
Poor. I did not enjoy this book. It makes little to no sense, and the story line is not interesting. A boring read..
Wonderful absurdity. Kafka writes in a delightful style, and follows the absurd situatations in which “K” finds himself with hilarious observations. Full of colorful characters. This is an easy and fun read, and will give the reader a deep understanding of the term “Kafkaesque”
Bad translation. Great book but this must've been translated by a 6 year old.
A gripping spiral. So many questions, none really answered.
The definition of Kafkaesque/dystopian. A must read for anyone to know the dark Kafkaesque scam side of any identity system devoid of soul and personality like a police, justice system or military institution of discipline. A bit obsolete for the society of social media control replacing it today, but could be extrapolated.
Down with irony. The first review is either by a "professor" or a millennial hipster, or both.
Disturbing. Disturbing. A metaphor for real life
Pretty good. Exposing lawyers as the lawyers they are.
The execution. I had imagined a macabre courtroom with stern officials and never ending accusations. Instead, this trial is much more insidious for never taking place but being omnipresent. I was surprised by the ending, but it might be the only possible outcome.
the trial. its a great book very eyeopening. kafka is the man
Ok read. Annoying
