Brilliance. All his works an ode to a literary alchemist’s Magnum Opus. A gorgeous work of human degradation at it’s most perverse.

Book About a Person Just Like You. Great short read. Rings a lot like a great Faulkner novel. I’ve read a great deal of McCarthy’s books by now and I have to say that “Child of God” has to be in my top three favorite. This short novel is up there with the likes of American Psycho, A Clock Work Orange, Slaughter House Five. I.e., a work about dangerous men living outside of a community or society that have toss them away or deemed them natural. Not for the reader who takes offense at graphic passages and descriptions of violence and other disgusting human acts.

A well written but troubling story.. A great author gives you a glimpse into the mind of extreme untreated mental illness. This book is not for the faint hearted.

Bad Bad Things. Horrific; a car accident you can never look away from. McCarthy’s poetic words give loft and purpose to this grim fable he winds.

Child of God reveiw. This book was thoroughly gripping in a disturbing way. Lester Ballard is easily one of the most insane characters I have ever read. My only complaint about the book was the narrative. It was often times quite hard to understand. But when major things happened it was generally very good.
