The Silent Wife Book Summary

Soon to be a major motion picture starring Nicole Kidman, fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl will love The Silent Wife

"I gobbled it down in one sitting." – Anne Lamott, People

Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event. He is a committed cheater. She lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds. She likes to settle scores. He decides to play for keeps. She has nothing left to lose. Told in alternating voices, The Silent Wife is about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that can’t be made, and promises that won’t be kept. Expertly plotted and reminiscent of Gone Girl and These Things Hidden, The Silent Wife ensnares the reader from page one and does not let go.

From the Trade Paperback edition.

The Silent Wife - A. S. A. Harrison Reviews

  • Enjoyable

    By Shamrock0720
I really enjoyed this book. I like when authors switch between different points of view, which gives me a more complete story, and this author does it well. The story is interesting and the characters are as well. I recommend this booK! :)
  • Quality writing, boring plot

    By twentysomethingreader
The author is clearly a great writer but the plot was so straightforward. I was expecting it to be like "The Girl on the Train" or "Gone Girl" like the reviews had said but there was hardly any anticipation in this storyline.

    Awesome. Beautifully written.
  • Just OK

I was expecting the likes of Gone Girl and this just didn't deliver. Deep character building and great description writing but just not all that exciting...
  • The Silent Wife

This was my first book by this author. I don't like the writing style. The storyline was good, but I felt like the story dragged on especially in the beginning. It took a while for the book to get good. A lot of unnecessary psycho babble.
  • Up and down

The book would get good then drag, then good then drag again. It was an ok quick read. Would I read it again probably not.
  • The silent wife

I was unimpressed with this read. Both main characters left much to be desired, and the plot was shallow and a little boring at times. I found myself skimming through several chapters. I'm very surprised this book is being compared to Gone Girl and Girl on a Train.
  • So so

    By X.pass
The writing was smart, but the story left more to be desired. It was difficult to like any of the characters, and the climax just wasn't climatic.
  • Boring
