I Need a Dark One for Me!. I received this ARC for an honest review. I am not a paranormal reader at all. I haven't seen or read any of the Twilight movies/books. I know, I've heard in missing out. Well, I enjoy Rachel's writing and when she shared that she was writing The Dark Ones, I thought I'd give this an honest go. Rachel doesn't disappoint. Holy Werewolves, Vampires, Sirens and a Dark One. I definitely need one in my life. As she unpacks the story, there is seriousness and a humorous telling that not only keeps your attention, but leaves you for wanting more. The characters themselves are strong and as you get to know them, you feel connected to their situations and fear and want for each of them. Genesis, Ethan, Alex, Mason. Cassius and Stephanie are characters you will want to learn more about and with the way it ends, well, it looks like we will be reading another Dark Ones very soon! Well done...looks like I may need to delve into the paranormal genre now. :)

Totally Unexpected!!. The Dark Ones is a great twist on para-romance book. She incorporated all my favorite genres, Vampire, Werewolves and Angels. I cannot wait for Cassius and Stephanie's story!!!!! I'm hooked!!!!

Love of darkness. This was my first read of RVD’s work and I am now a huge fan! Most PNR stories I read have a little similarity but this first installment has a uniqueness of it’s own, and I certainly appreciate that. This plot was amazingly set and I was captivated by each perspective given for each character. A siren, werewolf, vampire, archangel, and dark one (half angel half human) are some of my favorite paranormals but a human that could be given the life of immortality and take on the same features as their mate is pure genius! I will be continuing on to the next book! - skullinda

The Dark Ones. I usually like vampire stories, but this wasn’t one of them. I really found it just silly. I read it because of the reviews, but it didn’t live up to them in my opinion.

Rachel can write anything! Loved it!. Yes, I'm convinced that Rachel can write ANYTHING. Any genre, any age, anything. I used to read paranormal all the time. Vampires fascinate me. So, when I heard that one of my favorite authors was writing about vampires, I literally screamed. This has all the things you want in a paranormal romance. Suspense, foreplay, heat, humor, sexy characters and a little angst. Rachel writes family and loyalty better than any author out there. Genesis has lived her life learning about Immortals and is under the impression that if her number is called, she's going to go live with them and teach them. Man, was she wrong. Imagine walking into a room with four immortals and not knowing what to say, do, act. Now, imagine they are all beautiful. When your whole life you were told that you are nothing and you are ugly, Genesis doesn't know what's happening. But, she knows something isn't right when she's caught up in a terrifying scene and finds herself whisked away with a vampire. A sexy, gorgeous, brooding vampire. She find herself living with Ethan, vampire, Alex, siren and Mason, werewolf. Then she's told she is to become Ethan's mate to protect her from a Dark One. They all vow to protect Genesis at all costs. Going against Cassius, the Dark One is dangerous, but they think Genesis might be the answer they have been looking for. Will Ethan save her from Cassius? Will Genesis truly fall for Ethan and save herself? This is a standalone, but I know there has to be more coming and I can't wait!!! "You'll know…because you'll be so on fire for me, you'll think of nothing else. Not food, water, safety - not anything. Your only need will be me." Home. She'd called my house her home. Male pride roared in my chest. Barely keeping it together, I nodded my head and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "How's my iron?" "Perfectly balanced."

consuming. I started this when I went to bed one night, thinking I would just have a taste. Then, I looked over at the clock, and two hours had passed without me noticing. If you like supernatural attraction which cannot be denied, this is probably a book for you. The elders are a group of leaders of the main species: vampire, werewolf, siren and Dark One. There's a sexy fantasy man for everyone (most likely you'll want them all). Genesis is a human girl who has been summoned to the council. She thinks she knows, but she has no idea of the world she's entered. Her arrival has been prophesied. I really like how these leaders are like brothers instead of being pitted against one another. Many times in stories they're natural enemies. There are bad guys and antagonist, but it isn't quite what you would normally expect. Reading The Dark Ones was a blast. I will continue with the rest of the series.

Very interesting and sweet. Very interesting plot and characters. Want more!

Loved Mason. Entertaining. I did enjoy most of the story. I did find myself struggling to get through chapters. It seemed the author had difficulty getting us to the point without running in circles or beating around the bush. That was a bit boring. That said, I actually enjoyed the characters. I found Genesis annoying at times. You could tell from the beginning there was no love in her family. The immortals were fun. Because of that, I’m interested in continuing the series. If it was just about Genesis, definitely not. I do recommend, however, it does drag on and rushed towards the end. It is worth it to get to know Mason. So loveable.

Kept me interested. If you don’t initially know what the book is about you will definitely be confused but I urge you to continue reading. Once I started reading this book I just simply couldn’t stop. It’s a short book for me so I finished it in a day. The story starts off with a girl named Genesis who gets her number picked to be with an immortal. She’s been groomed since birth to help them, only to realize when that time comes that it was all a lie.

Never ever. Honestly, I can’t understand why is this book had lmost five stars. Characters are flat and bland. Finishing the book you don’t relly know who they are - like you didn’t know when you just started. There is no story of two people falling in love with each other, no story at all. And sex scenes ... I wouldn’t even call it luke warm they are so boring. If your standard for romance is Nalini Singh or Kresley Cole then you can skip this one. Never ever.

Dark And Different. I liked the characters in this book. So different than other books in paranormal that I’ve read before. I really liked the story and the darkness of it.

Absolutely Amazing. I love the story line

Totally made me fall back in love with the paranormal world. I had read the Eagle Elite series by this author & fell in love with her writing so I decided to check this one out as well & I was not disappointed at all!!! This book has it all & then some from vampires & werewolves to sirens & the dark ones. At times I wanted to smack poor Ethan for being rude with poor Genesis but when you realize why he feels the way he does you can't help but be understanding & not want to smack him any longer. Alex is a freaking hoot, he is funny & charming. I laughed out loud a couple times with his antics. And then there's Mason who I absolutely adore & fell in love with!! I hope he gets his own book at some point because he is just awesome!! This whole story had me page turning & I was completely blindside with the outcome of what I found out with Stephanie & Cassuis. I would give this book so many more stars then 5 & I look forward to the next book.

I am a fan....won’t be disappointed!. This is the first time reading about paranormal and I have to say I am fan. I loved this book. I loved reading about Ethan and Genesis. I didn't want it to end. I wanted more. Highly recommend reading this book. I can't wait to read the rest in the series. Ethan is a vampire. Genesis is a human. Genesis was taught the opposite about the immortals and vampires. Her mother was not very nice to her. Having her say she is ugly and nothing. Ethan is trying to protect Genesis. You will have to read this to find out the rest. You won't be disappointed.

The Dark Ones. This book was amazing it had me hooked since the beginning. I love that it was a story of paranormal characters and the story line was great. The plot twists had me in shock and wanting to know more. I could not stop reading the fact that it was so detailed every thing played out in my mind at one point it was like if i was watching a movie instead of reading. Would definitely recommend this book to others and will definitely continue the series.

Hooked!. I love paranormal books, but it has to be written by someone who can write. Rachel can write. And when I heard she was going to write this book I became ecstatic. Nothing better then having your favorite author take you to a whole new world. You can never guess where she's going to take you, her writing is so brilliant. The Dark Ones is not like your normal, typical paranormal. Ethan is not normal. Genesis lost her normal. Cassius can never be normal. Mason is far from normal. Alex and Stephanie have never been normal. With all this Genesis discovers everything she thought she knew is so far from the truth she's left in the dark. Genesis discovers a lot a long the way and it's not all easy. But she's not the only one with a lesson or two to learn. Can you learn to let go of the past? I enjoyed this book for a lot of reasons. First it was change from what I have been reading. It was refreshing. Second it hooked me right away. Third it wasn't any one thing. It wasn't all serious. It wasn't all romance. It gave you a little mystery and a good story line. Last I feel it was just the right length. Read it, you'll enjoy it and be surprised.

Absolute Love. I loved this book, I was attached to reading it all in one afternoon. I highly, highly recommend you read this book! Swoon worthy and very exciting. I definitely think everyone who loves some good ol’ vampires, werewolves, sirens, and more read this book.

The Dark Ones. Rachel Van Dyken The Dark Ones 5/10 Story about a human girl Genesis who gets her number called and she goes into service to the Immortals. The Dark Angel Cassius marks her but then the vampire also marks her to save her life...meh. I don’t like the flippant writing style. The storyline seems inconsistent, and I just didn’t warm to the characters. Got bored.

One book I could not put down!. This had a amazing story line that kept me guessing until the very end!
