Heartstong & Memorable. REVIEW: THE LOFT by Betty Lee Crosby The main two descriptions for THE LOFT are: HEARTWARMING and MEMORABLE. This is high praise indeed, from a reviewer who eschews romance and never approves happy endings. From the first lines my spirit was taken up with the characters, the story line, and the gently metaphysical overtones and undertones. I guess an "old dog" can learn new tricks, or new enjoyment. THE LOFT is part of author Betty Lee Crosby' s MEMORY HOUSE COLLECTION, and releases on September 15 (2015). The author generously provided a digital ARC for review purpose, at no remuneration.

Wonderful book for anyone!!. Although this is a sequel to “Memory House”, it can also be a standalone book. Annie and Oliver have married and left for their honeymoon. On the way, Annie has a premonition about Ophelia Browne. Ophelia is the woman that taught Annie about memories being attached to objects. Ophelia has been in a serious accident. She is sent to a rehabilitation center where she meets new friends her own age. Annie and Oliver are staying in Memory House while Ophelia is away. Ophelia decides to move in the senior housing with her friends and signs Memory House over to Annie. Oliver is in a horrible car accident. He is in a coma. The doctor isn’t sure if he will make it. Annie knows that he will if she can find the right memory to bring him back to her. Can she find the right memory before it is too late? Wonderful book! I love the idea of objects holding memories. The characters are well-defined, strong and diverse. The love between the characters shines through the book. Love books by this author!!

The Loft. It is always a pleasure to read about Ophelia, Annie and Oliver. This story introduces us to a few more fun characters, Max, and all the people from Ophelia's new home at Hanover House. Bad things happen along with the good things that make Bette's stories so exciting. It's a very good read.

Great book, fabulous series!!. Again- a great book written by Bette Lee Crosby! I finished Memory House, the first book in this series, this past weekend and couldn't wait to continue the journey with Annie and Ophelia in The Loft. This continues on with Annie's new marriage and lots of changes in everyone's lives. When Annie's new husband, Oliver, has a tragic accident, Annie searches for the one memory that can bring him back. I couldn't help but fall in love with the characters in this series. Annie is so selfless and loving, while Ophelia is feisty and wise. And Oliver... that man is so in love. Fabulous book, fabulous series!!

The Loft. If you like great books with believable characters, this is the book for you! The book begins with the wedding of Annie and Oliver but it is as much about the growth and changes in Ophelia's life as it is Annie and Oliver's. Max, a new character who is an architect, is introduced and it looks like she will be the main focus of book 3, which I am anxious to read. The characters are well done and the reader wants to find out what happens to everyone because they feel like they know them. There is a some drama and nail biting in this book but that makes it even more. I highly recommend this series. This is book 2 in the series.

Memories are food for the soul. The Loft by Bette Lee Crosby is a second book in the Memory House series and continues the story of Annie and Ophelia. Annie, heartbroken and alone, found herself at 90-year-old Ophelia's B & B. In a house full of magical memories they found a connection and formed a bond. A bond that would carry them through the events that unfold in The Loft. Events that will tip the Scale of Life from happiness to sorrow. Ophelia and her husband had made many happy memories in the Loft, in Memory House. Can she leave that enchanting place to live in another place without memories? Annie and her new husband are just beginning to make their together memories when tragedy invades their lives. Can she find the connection in memories that will bring healing? Can she learn to focus on what is left and not what has been lost? The Loft is a beautiful story of a constant love and of friendship and a faith that will bring balance to life. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. A favorable review was not required and the opinions are mine alone.

Must Read. Bette Lee Crosby is a master at pulling you into her stories, and making her characters people you can identify with. The story of Annie and Oliver starts in Memory House, and continues in this book. New characters are introduced who make you laugh, and see how they make Ophelia see her life differently. Oliver and Annie have such a great love story, and then there is Max, which is the reason I can't wait to read the next book. The story is heartwarming, and gives you things to think about...❤️

Wonderful Book!. Another magical story by Bette Lee Crosby who is indeed a masterful storyteller. Opehlia and Annie are back in this book entering new phases in their lives, Annie just having married Oliver and Ophelia realizing she will be alone once again in Memory House. Not wanting to give anything away about the story, there are some things that occur for both Ophelia and Annie that affects their futures and causes them to make some important decisions. There are new friendships that develop for both with new lovable characters. I loved this book and felt very connected to the characters and to the story itself. It felt very real to me. Ms Crosby truly knows how to bring characters to life in her stories. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Lovely Book!. The Loft by Bette Lee Crosby is the second book in the Memory House series. Annie Cross is marrying Oliver Doyle. It has been a year since Annie stumbled across The Memory House Bed and Breakfast and Ophelia Browne in Burnsville. Ophelia and Annie are a family. Annie is leaving on her honeymoon when she has a feeling that something is wrong with Ophelia. They turn around and find out that Ophelia decided to drive herself to church (after not driving for a year) and suffered a heart attack. Ophelia needed surgery and then has to have six to eight weeks of rehabilitation. The doctor states that Ophelia will need to make some life changes and that includes no stairs (the stairs in her home lead to her beloved loft). Oliver and Annie decide to build a duplicate to Ophelia’s precious loft on the ground level. They enlist the services of Max Martinelli. Max is an architect with a special soul. She can feel the wonderful memories in the house. Annie and Max hit it off right away. Ophelia, though, while in rehab makes some new friends and discovers a new life. A life of living with friends and fun (instead of living with her memories of her deceased husband). Ophelia meets Lillian Markowitz. Lillian is loud and brassy but extremely friendly. Lillian and her friends show Ophelia that there is fun to be had with new friends and, maybe a new home! Can Ophelia move on without hurting Annie’s feelings? Annie has a new husband and the beginnings of a new life. Is Annie ready to embrace this new life or will she cling to the Ophelia? Oliver just wants Annie to be happy, but he also wants her to love him as much as she does Ophelia. Just when things are going good for Annie, something tragic happens. Annie had so much happiness that the scale was tipped too far in one direction. Annie will have to have faith and love to get the scale back in balance. The Loft was such a lovely novel. It is a Christian themed novel, but it is not in any way preachy. It is well written and enjoyable to read. The book just moves along nicely (no chopping endings or rough transitions). You will smile, laugh, sigh, and cry while reading The Loft. I give The Loft 4.5 out of 5 stars. The ending is the one thing that bothered me. We are left with a question. We will have to wait until the next book to find out the answer. I received a complimentary copy of The Loft from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely loved this story!. I love everything Bette writes and The Loft is another one of her stories that I just fell in love with. She writes such beautiful prose with amazing and very likable characters. I want to enter the worlds she creates and never leave. The following is the first line from the book and I just absolutely love the thought of this idea. 'They say that somewhere far beyond what mortals see there is a scale of life, and for each moment of happiness a stone of sorrow is dropped onto the scale.' The Loft takes us back to Ophelia and Annie, who we first met in The Memory House. Annie is getting married and moving on with her life. These two women have formed such a strong and loving relationship. And they share the love of Memory House. Ophelia comes to a point where she feels she should leave the house and let those younger than herself experience the love she has found there and to make their own memories. But can she leave the memory of her true love, Edward? 'I don’t live here in this house. I’m alive inside your heart. I’ll go wherever you go.' Bette's books are always filled with such sweet stories, all laced with a little magic. And so much wisdom. I love marking so many of the great passages she writes, they are words to treasure. And reading her books is always such a treat because she intertwines her characters from other books and it is always so wonderful to visit them again. 'Memories are a big comfort, but there are times when you just need a live friend to talk and laugh with.' One last bit of Bette's wisdom. Read the rest of the book to experience this wonderful journey to the Memory House. 'Nothing is all good or all bad; that’s how you’ve got to look at life. If you see it from one side or the other, you’re just going to make yourself crazy.'
