Cugo & Drea Rock!. Another great read by Scarlett Cole. Cujo and Drea are thrown together to organize an engagement party for their BFFs Trent and Harper and sparks fly. If you read The Strongest Steel, which you really should have, then you know that there was an attraction between Cujo and Drea, and you also know that Cujo was not the settling down type. Well, we find out why that is and sooooo much more in this story. Drea is a hard worker and the main caretaker for her terminally ill mother, so she has no time for a relationship whether she wants one or not, it just isn't in the cards for her. Cujo is a playboy to the nth degree, or so Drea thinks, he is also more involved in Second Circle Tattoos then anyone knows other than Trent. HA! Like any of that is going to stop something that is meant to be. While working the closing shift at the café one night, Drea witnesses the abduction of a women and reports the crime to the police. This poor girl just can't catch a break I tell you. As if she doesn't have enough going on in her life she is determined to do whatever it takes to find the abducted woman and make sure she is ok. Cujo wants to be there to help her and show her that he can be the man she needs him to be, but there are so many obstacles set in front of the two of them it almost seems impossible to do. I liked the way this book flowed, I'll tell you that it had me wondering for a while and not fitting pieces together until the second half of the book, it really kept me guessing on who this woman was and what she was working on that had her abducted. There were new twist and turns around every corner. Pixies story is up next in The Purest Hook I look forward to seeing what happens between her and Dred, especially since he was threatened a couple of times by Cujo to stay away from her. ***I have received this book from St. Martin's Press through netgalley in exchange for my honest review***

Not bad.. This book was an okay read..Brody and Drea’s chemistry was slow to form but once they got going it exploded. I wanted a lot more from the story but it was a bit flat for me. Good to revisit with the other characters and see more of Dred. Not a bad installment in the series but not as exciting as I expected it to be.

The Fractured Heart. Ms. Cole shot to the top of the charts with her debut novel The Strongest Steel. It was on the top of my list for favorites of 2015. This is the second in the series and just as enthralling as the first. We met Cujo ( Brody) Matthews in book one. He is co-owner of Second Circle and best friends with Trent. Since Harper is now a part of their lives, he is thrown together with her best friend Drea....talk about oil and water! For some reason they have taken an instant dislike to each other. Drea is struggling to make ends meet, taking care of her very ill, grouchy, ungrateful mother. She is working two jobs and exhausted, plus now she is planning an engagement party for Harper and Trent, worst of all with Cujo. The banter between these two characters is hilarious. Neither seem to notice the affection and pull of feelings for each other. Cujo is known for his hook ups with gorgeous flight attendants. He likes the easy come and go. Drea is mystified, "This was not the kind of guy she was looking for, so why did he keep stirring her up?" Drea is pulled into some dangerous secrets, and to protect her, so is Cujo. Slowly but surely the defenses they both keep high, start crumbling away, and when they do......sizzling hot! The twists and turns keep you guessing, and one particular twist is a bit of a shock! . Sexy romance, suspense and some good laughs, what more do you need for a fantastic read? This novel can be read as a stand alone, but don't deny yourself the pleasure of reading The Strongest Steel. The Fractured Heart, The Strongest Steel and The Perfect Hook. I have read these three books over and over. The just get a grip on you that you can't put them down. I can't wait for The Darkest Link!!!! The best books, in the same category as the Driven Series by K. Bromberg!!!!!

Amazing characters, but a bit drawn out.. > > Judging a Book by it's Cover < < Light saturated, grey-scale, shirtless, tattooed male. BOLD color and font choices for cover text. Visually attractive, eye catching. Synopsis sounds great. > > Looking Deeper < < Third-person POV, alternating narrative perspectives. Richly complex characters, so full of dimension and perfectly flawed. Cujo and Drea are opposites in so many ways, but they fit SO well together. Both characters were captivating, their chemistry was playful yet hot, but their relationship was actually a slow-build despite the attraction. The secondary cast were a balanced blend between those that were introduced in THE STRONGEST STEEL and new characters that, no doubt, will have their own stories told in time and individuals unique to this story alone. It felt full and diverse. Dialogue and interaction was natural and realistic. The plot was entertaining and exciting, but many elements were predictable and I felt like there were some areas that were added that were unnecessary filler. There were many conflicts from numerous sources, all of which were resolved in some degree. The conclusion is just satisfying enough to provide necessary closure to the important things and implied they'd receive a HEA. Overall, Ms. Cole wrote another excellent story with amazing characters. Although this book could stand on it's own, I'd recommend reading the first book in the series first. Trent and Harper are integral to this story as well as Second Circle in general. . Loved. 'When she stopped being mad at the world and him, when she let herself be vulnerable for a moment, he found it hard to stand be his decision to stay away.’ Scarlett Cole is a new author that I am watching closely. After a good book friend basically forced me to read her first books, The Strongest Steel, I was completely captured by her fresh story telling mixed with a seriously sexy hero and a strong heroine. I read it and knew that she was on to something. So to say I have been eager for the follow up novel, The Fractured Heart, would be an understatement. “What makes you think it would be off the charts?” Her voice was barely a whisper. He leaned toward her, his lips a fraction from her ear. It took every ounce of self-control not to taste her skin. “When it feels this good without even touching, how could it not be?” Drea and Cujo’s story isn’t always easy but really are the good ones really every easy? Drea spends most of her time caring for an ailing mother who doesn’t even appreciate her and Cujo is just a playboy who will never settle down. From the beginning these two cannot agree on anything and are at odds most of the time that they have to spend together in order to plan the engagement party for their mutual best friends. All the while Drea becomes mixed up in a mystery and her curiosity and need to help have her putting herself in dangerous situations. Can Brody “Cujo” convince her he can be a one woman man and help her stay safe and learn to be loved? ‘How did you help someone you love through a grief so violent they were choking on it?’ Being honest going into this book Brody’s nickname of Cujo had me apprehensive. It doesn’t scream sexy book boyfriend (more like might kill me in my sleep boyfriend) but soon after getting to know him I too fell for him and by the time I found out the source of the offending nickname I was on board too. There were parts of this story that as an outsider with a lot more information I wanted to shake Drea and yell at her to put the pieces together but then I sit back and look at it from the point of view from the frantic girl who is trying to distract herself from a sad life. She lives the life of an old woman who has lived her prime only she never got to experience it. Since she was seventeen she has been struggling to keep her and her mother above water with no help and no one patting her ont he back telling her she is doing a good job. If I was her would I be able to clearly see everything from all angles, honestly no I wouldn’t . I loved Drea, I loved her heart, her fun side and mostly I loved the way she fully loves those she cares for. She would do anything for you if you were close to her and that in my opinion is a great woman. “Why would you be proud of me? I hurt you. I hurt us.” ‘That’s just one moment in our history. It won’t define us.” Brody and Drea have incredible chemistry and thoroughly steamed up my kindle. From the start you can tell that they want each other but both come with deep emotional baggage that they need to work through. Personally, I believe Scarlett did a grand job of slowly healing two fractured people and making both completely whole again, together. I am falling for these characters and this series and I cannot wait for The Purest Hook to come out! So if you have not read Scarlette Cole yet I encourage you to take the leap and jump into one of her books, you won’t be let down. ~miranda
