Losing his Edge. I have always been a fan of EJD. His style is unique. He challenges me learn ten dollar words. His recent books have been good yet they seem lacking of his edge. Maybe is that I can no longer explore the mind of his characters because I lack a connection with them. Too much dialogue, making it harder to follow along. Too much violence. I miss the characters’ from books like Milk in my Coffee, The Other Woman , Pleasure and, Genevieve. Don’t get me wrong he is and forever will be one of my favorite writers.

Good Read... I've been on the EJD train since the late 90's. I actually hated reading until I found him!☺️ I love the way EJD's writing has evolved throughout the years. This book introduces both new and intriguing characters, a good read but not great. The Gideon series has my heart. I'm rating this book a 4.. I just can't wrap my head around what was missing ..🤔. Either way, I'm not getting off the train.. I'm in for the long haul and will recommend this book and the others to anyone who's listening!

5 star. EJD’s books are always an experience. I appreciate his writing style and all he adds in context aside from the plot. Luckily I read ‘Before We Were Wicked’ before this so it was nice to see Ken leave off on a better note than the last book!
