Rich, lovable characters. I loved this book, and gobbled it down. The characters are richly drawn, realistic and loveable. The author clearly has a big store of practical knowledge about people, and God, that shines through in her storytelling. It's great reading a Christian novel set in Australia too!

Inspiring. This second book in the Grace series is another realistic and inspiring story about God's wonderful grace and His working in the lives of the characters in their different situations. The story is also challenging to me with regards to making the most of each opportunity that comes my way to share of God's goodness and the salvation that He offers to all people in all walks of life.

A Worthy Sequel. This is the second book in the series and if it were possible, I would say that I loved it more than the first. It has all the things that I loved about the first book, it was practical, encouraging, thought-provoking and well written. A book that I would recommend to anyone who asks me what they should read next. The book follows two women, Esther (from book 1) and Rachel. Neither of their lives have been perfect but they have persevered and continue to grow throughout the novel. Am looking forward to the next one in the series.

Captivating story. More captivating storytelling by Christine! What a thrill to be taken on this rollercoaster of emotions - I held my breath, jumped for joy and cried out in despair along with Esther and Rachel. I just wished someone told me to pack the tissues! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to see how a story (or a few) can change lives.

An enjoyable, and challenging, read. I thoroughly enjoyed book 1 of this series, but book 2 I absolutely loved! The story is an easy read in many ways, but at the same time I found it incredibly challenging and thought-provoking. It kept me captivated throughout, as well as wondering if, and how, the relationship between the members of Esther’s family could ever be restored. This book was a great reminder that God often does not work in the way we expect but that we can trust Him in all the situations we face. Once again, Christine’s narrative is firmly based in, and bound by, the Bible. I shed many tears as I read Grace in the Shadows, but in spite of this, or maybe as a result, I found this tale satisfyingly real and can’t wait until book 3 is released.
