Great book. This novel show Huckleberry Finn when he escapes from his town down the Mississippi River on a raft. Finn stops on a river island that he thinks none will be on. When he wakes up in the night he barely sees a thin cloud of smoke rising in the sky from the island. He goes away and hunts for food on the river bank woods. When he returns to the river island with no food, he goes in the bushes and peaks through to see a unknown person laying on the ground with a jacket over his head. Huck stays there ‘till the morning and when the person wakes, he finds out it’s Miss Watsons slave, Jim! The two boys went over to where Hucks raft was, and while Jim built a fire in a grassy open place amongst the trees, Huck got oatmeal, bacon, coffee, coffepot, frying-pan, sugar and tin cups, all things he grabbed from his dads house and shoved in a bag before he left. Jim was set back, because he was sure it was all done with witchcraft. Huck also caught a good big catfish, too, and Jim cleaned him with his knife, and fried him. The two boys stayed for a couple days then head up the river to a place Jim is free, but everytime they get close to a city they think is it a big problem occurs. Family feuds with guns, and people killing people in revenge, and police looking for runaway slaves. They traveled only at night to avoid being seen. When Huck goes scouting on land he finds out that Jim is wanted for $800. But he also finds out that they are a couple days away from the city where Jim can be free. When they are so close to being free, someone catches Jim and when Huck goes to get him he stays there for a couple weeks while him and Jim work on a plan to get him out of there. What do the do? Do they escape and become free? Or do they die while trying to be brave and save each other? Read the book to find out.
