So. Good.. It took me a few chapters to start to get the lay of the land and engaged in the story but once I was, I was obsessed. There is action, mystery, romance and the reader just gets drawn into the whole world the author has built. I am immediately moving to the second book.

A fantastical murder mystery. I had no idea what to expect going into this from ACOTAR and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. It starts off a little slow, but once you get past the first couple of chapters, the story picks up pace and takes you on a wild ride! The plot line was crafted very well, a stronger plot than some of Maas’s other books. The murder mystery keeps you guessing and I had theories as to the end but the actual ending is so much better than my theories. I’ve started book 2! Can’t wait for book 3 next year!

She does it again!. Amazing read!!! Could not put down!!

Fantastic. It was slow to start, but this book had me sobbing at the finish. That’s never happened. Such a wonderful story of love and friendship being the most powerful gift.

At First…But Then…!. It took me a couple tries to get past the first few chapters. I didn’t get what all the hype was about, It felt like a cable teen drama with sci fi characters at first. I felt like there were so many supporting characters, and details, and it was too much. Then things started to click together like a puzzle…and crescendo into a story that I could not put down. I mean up until 4:30am reading sessions!! Really amazing story!!

Okay…. I wouldn’t read it again… it had potential, but it fell short and it was too long, the first half of the book was very tough to get through. I wouldn’t recommend this book but SJM’s other books aren’t bad.

Great read. It’s a tough start but it develops well and hooks the reader through the last pages and beyond.

Phenomenal Escape From Reality. Slow to start as scenes and characters are set, but impossible to put down as you will Bryce on.

Enjoyable read!. It took a bit of time to be engrossed by this book. But once taken in by her world, I couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed her modern “real world” & pop culture references interspersed with the fantasy world she created.

Interesting. But a little too hard to believe. Got a little ridiculous. Liked the other series better.

Not sure. I’ve read both ToG and ACOTAR series by SJM and this one just didn’t do much for me. The world was only so interesting and it took forever for the action of the plot to pick up. I wanted to like the characters but just didn’t feel that strong pull for either Bryce of Hunt. Not like the other series. The book was way too long for all the action to happen in the last 200 pages. I need to take a break before reading the 2nd book

AAAHHHHMAZING!. The book is fantastic, the finale is probably one of the greatest endings I’ve ever read! I was fist pumping at two in the morning!!! Couldn’t put it down.

My new favorite SJM book. Quite possibly one of the best books I’ve ever read. The world-building is unmatched and the plot twist left me literally jaw-dropped. Love, murder, action, fantasy, friendship. A beautiful story. A book that made me FEEL. Iykyk

I love love lovedddd ACOTAR so freaking much and was looking for another story to be completely immersed in and this book did 👏🏻 not👏🏻 fail 👏🏻 every piece of this book coming together at the end and then leaves you wanting more. Like Crack. Read the book!

It was ok. The beginning of the book took me two months to finish. Once I got past page 400ish the book went by pretty fast. In the last 200 pages I wanted to give up again because of how slow it got. The ending felt rushed and some of the reveals were really cheesy. All that being said I am curious to see what happens in the second book. I don’t think I would recommend this to anyone. So much of the book could have been left out and the plot would have been just as interesting.

Amazing book, hard to put down.. Really enjoyed this book - started slow while it built plots and character but the book really had you trying to guess the next move and usually had me guessing wrong. So many twist and turns and by the end, impossible to put down.

Fast paced and exciting. In true Sarah Maas fashion. The story takes you on a thrill ride with lots of twists and turns, but takes you where you want to go in the end.

Great read if you’re not a critic…. It was fantastic…. Ok.. There were some things that could probably have been better but this daggone book made me cry four times before it was all over and done with. And I would have given the book five stars of cheer perfection had the reveal not come in the form of a tire squealing hard left turn. I appreciate that she wanted to solve the “whodunnit” but I wasn’t fond of how she tied it all up. However once I shrugged my shoulders and got over it, the remainder of the book was PHENOMENAL. It pulled at all the heart strings, wraps up items that I had actually forgotten about after 600 pages and has a great lead into the next novel. I like the world building of the City and variety of characters! I CANNOT WAIT to read House of Sky and Breath!

Couldn’t put it down. Loved these characters. I was at the edge of my seat for nearly the entire story. This book made me laugh, cry, imagine, and wonder. Enjoyed even more than acotar

Hands down 5 stars. I thought I was obsessed with ACOTAR…… Hello Crescent City!!!!! The way Sarah writes has a way of entrancing you into the story yourself! I can not wait to read the next book and those that follow!!!! You will not be disappointed in this read!

I tried. I really tried to read this but it was honestly irritating to get through. I didn't enjoy the language choices and it felt juvenile for an adult book. Couldn't make it through deep enough to see if there were other writing elements that would make it worth it (i.e. plot developments and what not)

What a ride. .. I never ever do book reviews. . However this series took me out and under. Devoured in less than a day I became so enthralled with Bryce’s story. Yes it had no spice however the plot really makes up for what’s its missing.

Hold on because the second half is where the magic is.. The first third of the book took me months to read. I was not very interested. Then suddenly, I found I could barely keep up with all of the action, character reveals, and drama. It is beautifully written with painstaking detail to a magical cruel world! That’s why I kept going. I am definitely glad I did.

Awesome pacing. I was never bored. This was awesome. Pacing was great and throughout the book, she filled in many pieces to be fully revealed at the end. I love I did not guess correctly each twist!!

Hang in there…. I had a hard time following this book at first; I had to go back and re-read the first couple chapters even. But as I adjusted to what I was reading, I became enthralled. This is an amazing book full of sass, action, adventure, fantasy and love! Can’t wait to start the next one.

Mixed Feelings. This one really tugged at my heart strings. I was really heartbroken at the end. Not in an unsatisfying way though. The story takes a long time to really get going. There is a lot of setting up to do and laying the groundwork for the future twists and turns. I’m still processing how I feel about it. I’m glad I read it, but I’m not sure that I would ever reread it.

Wow!. Very engaging read, kept me interested throughout. Detailed plot that obviously took major effort to craft into the thrilling end product.

Sarah Maas- all her books. I have watched every book Apple Book Store has featured and my mouth waters wanting so badly wanting to own her books. Apple your prices for this gifted author is outrageous considering it costs the author more to go to print than it does to offer readers on line access to purchasing a book that has paid for itself in print. The highest I will go to spending on any author from your store is $12.00, I have a library somewhere between 1200 books or more…. I lost count. Apple has made a fortune off my reading addiction. I have often thought of switching to Amazon simply cause their prices are more affordable and I can read for free with a membership. I have invested so much into Apple and almost have 500 books in my collection of “want to purchase”, carefully selected by my taste in books and that is what holds me back from switching accounts. Please start reviewing your prices in all your books with the economy getting tougher on the pocket book cause if prices keep increasing in Ca and the US in 2022, I might not have any choice but to find a cheaper vendor for my compulsive reading disorder, my most favourite thing to do and I would prefer to buy them from Apple than rent. Please advise with a comment. This is not reflective to this author as I used her as an example, I would love soooo much to be able to afford to purchase Sarah’s books but as a retired senior, I can not. Apple please advise if there is a possibility to get Sarah’s books at a more affordable rate?

Amazing book!. I am currently crying right now, I’ve bawled my eyes out for the past hour over this book and I don’t regret reading it even though it BROKE me! SJM is an amazing author and this book just proves it. This is the kind of writing I aspire to create one day. Still wiping tears away though. This book is AMAZING!

Not for me. I’m so sorry but for me it’s lacklustre at best. I have no clue why but this story held little appeal for me in terms of characters or storyline. To each their own, much respect to those with differing opinions and best to you all! Happy reading everyone.
