This was a great start to a new series, I liked how the author expanded her world and we still had glimpses of familiar faces. Also, we finally got big brother, John Huxley’s HEA. John is a bit world weary and jaded by the time he gets to the highlands of Scotland. Annie Tulloch is loving, lively, and doesn’t waste a minute in riling John up. In order to win a land dispute John must enter and win an event in the Highland Games, as proposed by Annie’s step-father. After a devastating loss, Annie seeks John out in order to help a friend. John and Annie make a deal, she’ll help him win if he’ll help her become a lady, so she can marry a lord. Little does she know, her lord is right in front of her. This book spans about a year and follows both Annie and John building their relationship and surviving some devastating moments in the life of Annie’s family. I’ve quickly become attached to Annie’s step-father and step-brothers and I’m waiting on tenterhooks for their stories. This book has everything you love about Scottish romances, beautiful, eerie landscapes, mysticism, and destiny. The only thing that upset me about this book is that it ended. I seriously can’t wait to read the next. This has become my favorite book by Elisa Braden, I know you’ll enjoy it! P.S. The epilogue was perfect. Bookstagram: @hopeless.book.romantic

❤️. Just read this for my 2nd time. Still as entertaining as the 1st time I read it. Love this book.

Not what I expected!. Elisa Braden is one of my favorite authors, and not only was I excited to learn of this new series, but also to have the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review: I loved it. There was a hint of the supernatural, which surprised, and in this case, delighted me. I usually don't go for that, but it was so well done, and not the most important aspect of the story - although it added so much meaning to it. The romance between John and Annie is sublime. They are both strong-willed, and when they clash there are fireworks - clever retorts, strong physical attraction, substantial emotional actions and reactions. Great story, well-written. Highly recommended.

Great start to a new series!. Elisa Braden is one of the best historical romance writers out there. I loved her Rescued From Ruin series. John Huxley from that series is the hero here. This story held my interest from the beginning. Annie is a feisty heroine who says what she thinks, can handle her huge Scottish step father and brothers & an out of place Englishman. She, also, appears to be mad as in mentally disturbed. If you love Scottish folklore and a wonderful, exciting love story this is the book for you.

Love story with whimsy. John and Annie’s love story is filled with laughter, coercion and a hint of soul touching grief. Annie’s love for her Da and brothers emanate throughout the story. John has been a wanderer and it’s great to see him navigate living in a foreign land and his transformation to love. Finley is a gift.

Good. I loved so much of this book. The main characters the secondary characters and even the ghostly ones.

The Making of a Highlander. Long awaited worthy addition to Elisa’s books about the Huxleys and a great start to a new series set in the Scottish highlands. Annie is a fiery alpha lass who has had to grow up raised by a step-father and 4 big burly step-brothers. She proves that she can hold her own and when she decides upon something, like becoming a lady, nobody will stand in her way, so the secret lord living up the road had better beware. Toss in a little smuggling intrigue, some back-stabbing betrayal and a little romance and you have a page-turner. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Great fun!. Funny, sexy romance with a couple of villains thrown in for good measure. Loved it!
