Between Ink and Shadows. This was an okay read. Didn’t love it and didn’t hate it. The plot is predictable and the writing suffers from over-explanations. Previous information is frequently repeated and makes for repetitive reading that drags out the story. Nimona isn’t a very interesting protagonist and a trying test of patience. Whirlwind romance, despite Allister being the more romantic ship.

Felt unfinished. The tension between characters kept up the intrigue however the book ended in an uncomfortable situation

Okay - Entertaining Enough. I was ultimately very disappointed in this book. If you are looking for a physical description of any of the main characters, city, or items, you will be sorely dissatisfied. Not to mention that the protagonist is a thief… who is continuously caught. It’s as though she is utterly incapable of achieving anything without the help of her love interest. Again, very disappointing. I seldom do not finish a book, but I can’t make it through this one. It’s a shame because the plot has good bones.

It was ok. The story wasn’t bad. The ending didn’t give me any answers to everything going on in the book and the only way to find out is to buy and read the next one. I was really annoyed by the overuse of the word intimation. It seemed to be everywhere when other words could have been used. I was not left with the feeling that I just had to find out what happens next so I won’t get the next book.

Just not enough. Over all it was a good story. I liked the characters and the premise of the world the author created. It was not as exciting as it could have been the chemistry between Warrack and Nim was great at first but nothing really happened. I felt like I wanted more from the entire thing. The audience needed more magic and more spice and this just left me disappointed. The book was descriptive but gave the reader no emotional connection to its characters.

Well written but lacking depth. I thought the book was easy to follow and well written. However, there were very few characters and places throughout the book which made it feel one dimensional in some aspects. Also, the magic just felt like feelings rather than actual power. The author would tell of the effect the magic had on the character, but not actually what was happening or what the magic could do. There was also annoying repetitions at times like “a man of this station”. I listed the negatives but I did stick with the story til the end and I am glad I did. Overall, some of the plot ideas and concepts are very interesting. Worth a read, just can’t give it more than 2 stars when I compare to other great reads I’m into right now.

love it!. I’ve never read a story with such an interesting plot before, I couldn’t put the book down and when I had to it was only because I was about to pass out from staying up so late to read as much as I could. The saga continues👀

Pretty good overall. This book is a little hard to understand sometimes, but overall is a good book. I will be getting the next book I the series.

Something doesn’t add up.. Why did you make your main character so weak, so unwilling to push herself, physically and mentally? You say your main antagonist is powerful, but you only show your protagonist to be weak and dispirited.

Things are not always what they appear to be. I usually don’t read this type of book. I found the storyline interesting. The writing is very descriptive. There were a few very unexpected surprises. I will probably read the next book in the series at some point.

So incredibly good. Brilliant. I felt my heart was in my throat the whole time I read this book - and I barely put it down. The writer really built the suspense and the intrigue. The writing was absolutely incredibly. The unwinding of the storyline and secrets come to light. I absolutely devoured this book. It was incredible. I haven’t read the fantasy genre in a while and it really got its hooks into me with this book and series. I cannot wait to pick up the next installment.

This book has political intrigue and was very well written.

Well written but…. For quality of writing it deserves 5* but I have a hatred of scenes of torture and thus 3*, and I won’t continue with the series.

Confusing but Wholeheartedly Enjoyable. I’ll admit, there are still things that I feel like we’re not suuuuuper explained properly, but despite that I found myself drawn to the story and caring for the wellbeing of the characters.
