Good Story…but. Would have been a 4⭐️ rating but Nick has some growing up to do. Main character Nick trauma bonds with a past issue his current boyfriend Dane encountered, took accountability for, and reconciled with his best friend Max. Long story short, you can’t call someone “homophobic” if they do not consent to physical and or sexual advances; that’s called sexual assault. That’s like getting mad at someone for telling you “no” or responding negatively to unwanted actions when you were never given their consent. If the tone of this book was non/dub con, then I’d rock with it. However, Dane recognized, on his own accord, what he did was wrong, clearly letting readers know his actions were not agreed upon by the other party. It’s funny how Nick works at a law firm but doesn’t acknowledge the legality of consent. Sexual assault, no matter how innocent, can be woman on man, a man on a woman, a man on a man, and or a woman on a woman. In my opinion, the growing relationship between Nick and Max normalizes & validates impulsivity should go unchecked no matter if it’s unlawful.
