Delightful regency romance. I love that authors are writing more books that take liberties with certain tropes like this one does. In this regency romance the woman is older, richer and socially way above the man. Jeremy is an actor that Fanny who is the daughter of a Duke has hired to be a fake beau to keep other men away from her at her sisters wedding. While there is a bit of angst caused by some of the other men, the main plot is the burgeoning relationship between the two main characters. I especially enjoyed the delicate touch Heather Boyd has with these two and that she has given them very well rounded characters that are a delight to follow as they work their way towards a relationship. Standalone romance. This is the story of Fanny (a wealthy widowed daughter of a duke) and Jeremy (a poor orphaned actor trying to be a better person). Fanny hires Jeremy to play her amour in order to keep the fortune hunters away from her. Her family knows what she is up to and surprisingly, they welcome Jeremy into their fold when he arrives with Fanny for her sister's wedding. He is very respectful of Fanny and always looking out for her best interest, even when she doesn't appreciate it. Her family sees more to Jeremy than both himself and Fanny and they very quickly realize that there is more than just a business contract between the two. I like that this story has a strong wealthy female character who usually knows exactly what she wants and that it is the male character who is poor, kind, respectable and in need of a little nudge with regards to his worth. This is definitely worth a read if you are looking for a bit of a role reversal. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
