He’s hung on too long!. He mailed this one in! Not nearly as good as prior works. Unnecessarily pompous, often disjointed, unimaginative battle sequences and remarkable in its jumpiness angle lack of any real suspense or build up.

The best!. Ted Bell is at it again with a fun, clever and oh so elegant story of adventure. A fun read and a perfect Christmas present for those on your list!!

What?. This was a huge disappointment. Great characters reduced to cartoonish afterthoughts. Has to be a ghost writer.

Delicious read with fantastic plot!. An absolutely delicious and fast moving read from Ted Bell! Well done sir! I’m truly savoring your next Alex Hawke spell binding adventure. Take your time, of course; but do hurry sir!!

Seahawke. Simplistic, implausible on all fronts and corny. What happened to the Alex Hawke who earned his victories without literary shortcuts and two paragraph, implausible battles? Big disappointment.

Missed expectations. I’m so very sorry to have waited with such high anticipation of a fantastic book instead to find a tale of many disconnected adventures that were difficult to get thru. I’m a big fan of all the other books just this one not so much.

Poorly written. What a mess. Used to like this series and author. Not sure if my tastes have changed or this writer has devolved. So many continuity issues and errors. Vizcaya was built by one family but the name changed a few pages later. Speed boat is red, then it’s blue. Not to mention the absurd assumptions. He sinks a Chinese sub that has not fired on him and there are no ramifications? Just a real dumpster fire book.

Terrible. Don’t bother. Really bad. So bad I almost couldn’t finish. Read three of four books in the midst and was so bored that I finished it. That will be the last of his books I read.

This killed my interest in Alex Hawke. Sloppy plot narrative, conflicting details, poor story continuity. The example left ringing in my ears was a great yacht anchored, yet mysteriously moving, with churning props leaving a frothy wash. The battle scene was chaotic and the timeline frequently confused itself. I wonder if the editors and proof readers simply gave up.

Who wrote this book?. This booked was a big disappointment for sure. I am used to the Alex Hawke series of books flowing from beginning to end and this did not. It lurched from scene to scene so painfully that I literally questioned who the author was. Fiction is one thing but this book was fiction of fiction with strange interludes (Devereux doesn’t kill Smith ? Really… and the interactions with his son are beyond the pale) throughout. It ended with Anastasia strolling back into his life so clearly the stage is set for the next book but I certainly Ted gets his rhythm back.
