I NEED book 2. OMG, I waited for this not so patiently, but boy was it worth it!! This is going to be brief & not so specific, because you need to experience it fully on your your own. But holy cannoli, the things you find out in this book will twist you up in so many ways!!! And in the end, what you NEED is book 3!! I cannot wait!!!

On tenterhooks. This sequel to Fable of Happiness 1 was a really good read. As Gemma learned much more about Kas through the flashbacks that he experienced as he recovered from his concussion. These flashbacks changed Gemma’s perception of Kas and her feelings for him as a result. Kas’s personality changed each time he woke and their interactions were a rollercoaster of emotions. I became invested in their relationship until - another cliffhanger. Yikes! I can’t wait for the conclusion in volume 3 and you will be on bated breath too. I received an advanced complementary copy of this book and I am voluntarily submitting this review.

My heart hurts with each page turn. Only Pepper is capable of making my heart bleed with a single page turn. This series may not be the typical dark romance but finding love through trauma is the darkest of dark. Kas is constantly fighting his demons as his past haunts him but Gemma is unforgiving in her love for him. I’m a sucker for a wounded soul but Kas’ soul grippers my heart every time. As I keep my eyes on his consistent black outs and amnesia …I eagerly anticipate the conclusion of this series. (Pepper can not be trusted to not smash your heart into pieces). Will Kas and Gemma finally admit their true feelings for one another with the actually “L” word? Or will Kas past consume him and end them once and for all.

Palpable. Poignant. Phenomenal.. This magnificently engrossing story continues to hold me captivated. My thoughts continue ruminating the layered depth of the characters their emotions and reactions given their circumstances. That’s the power of Pepper Winter’s way of weaving a story. She not only captures your mind and imagination but your heart and soul in some magical way somehow delivering a story so raw and transcendent that you can’t comprehend. Kassen and Gemma dynamic is palpable, volatile and poignantly traumatic. I’m totally invested in their lives and relationship. I so look forward to reading what’s to come after that heart stopping ending. The suspense is killing me. Hurry up book three, I await with bated breath!

A raw and emotion filled story!. Man oh man, Pepper does it again with this installment of Kas and Gemma's story. Picking up exactly where book 1 and that massive cliffhanger left us, we're pulled right back into an emotional and raw story of a man whose life has been on hold for the past eleven years. And Gemma, who fights all natural instincts to get away and save herself, but her intrinsic compassion refuses to comply. We finally get some very brutal glimpses into Kassen's past and what he's lived through. Alternating between past scenes and present, the story of Kas and his adopted brothers and sisters is tragic and utterly heartbreaking. How Kas survived any of it, mentally or physically is a miracle. The question now is, what mental state is Kas really in? Gemma, bless her, she is so torn between just escaping while Kas is immobilized, and her innate desire to help someone who is in trouble. So she stays, but it really stretches her to her utmost limit, especially with everything Kas does to her when he finally recovers enough to be somewhat lucid and mobile. And along the way, is it possible that she could actually be falling in love with this broken man? I am going to say straight up, there are some really hard scenes to read in this. There are triggers galore and parts of this will be extremely difficult for some to read. But as always, Pepper manages to convey a story that is brutal but somehow breathtaking at the same time. “I’m not lonely while you’re here. That’s why you can’t go. Why you can never go.” This entire story revolved entirely around just Kas and Gemma, as did the first book, and the loneliness of them being secluded just to Fables made me start feeling a bit claustrophobic. And I still have SO many questions! But that last chapter, and a new cliffhanger has me dying for book 3 RIGHT NOW. Pepper is definitely an evil genius and I applaud her bravery in tackling such a dark and disturbing story. I wonder what that says about me that I'm so totally obsessed and invested in Kas and Gemma's lives. I need the rest of their story!

Fable Of Happiness: book two. Fantastic and just as good as the first book, with gut wrenching characters, that grab your heartstrings. 💕💕

All consuming emotional rollercoaster!. I wasn’t sure what to think about Gemma and Kas after reading the first book, but this second installment hit me with all the feels right from the start. This book broke me and I’m still not okay. I don’t remember the last time I was so emotional over a book and its characters. We get to dwell deeper into Kas’ memories of his past at Fables and my heart broke over and over again for him with each word read. Dealing with memory loss, flashbacks and nightmares from the past and trying to keep his savage urges at bay, his torment and guilt were pouring from the pages. His lost innocence and raw anguish had me full on sobbing when reading his chapters. Gemma suprised me with her strength and patience. She could have given up on Kas so many times but she chose to fight and save him despite everything she endured when being his captive. This second part focuses so much more on characters and their inner turmoil. And there was so much angst between them, it was all consuming. I couldn’t help but completely fall in love with these characters and storyline. The unique setting, details, characters complexity and darkness make this story unlike anything I’ve ever read. The cliffhanger left me begging for more and I can’t wait for the conclusion. October cannot come soon enough!

Captivating! Brilliant! A must read!. Ahhhh that ending! Another brilliant storyline with twist and turns that will keep you hooked from the beginning to the end. I will be in pins and needles waiting for the conclusion to this dark trilogy.

Mind-boggling!. Holy hotness! What just happened with that cliffhanger! This is the second book in the Fable series. Pepper Winters you threw the ball out of the park! This book…this book is decadent, delicious, and dangerously addictive that it is so ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY good!! Kas is such a broken beast from the past and intertwining with the present, he doesn’t know which is what…until Gemma…the one to stand up to him and makes him feel wanted! The vortex of crackling lust shattering Kas’s will power to redeem hope from despair, love from separation, and the memories of the constant repeated abuse from his past. Kas will do anything to stay in self-imposed exile in the house of terror even if it means keeping Gemma against her will. But Kas doesn’t count on Gemma making him long for things that he never felt before. And the more she slips past his defenses, the more it is impossible to keep his distance. Gemma just wanted to go home to her job, house, and family, but when she was given the opportunity, she decided to stay to help Kas because she loved him. This isn’t a fairy tale—Beauty and the Beast love story—this is the dark side. It is sizzling with the passion they can’t contain. It’s love in the raw without caring about the consequences. It’s feeling when they thought it was unattainable. It’s a purge of the past and fighting for a future, but love is not without pain or sacrifice. The darkness inherited in the characters will make you afraid to turn the page, but the sexiness of it all will assure that you do. Pepper Winters writes forbidden romance with a gripping intensity that flows from the pages. With a flawless prose, Pepper Winters has constructed a masterpiece that will lure you into the wee hours and beyond that you will not be able to put this book down. I listened to the audible of this book, and I loved the two narrators—Tor Thom and Charley Ongel, now listed as two of my favorite narrators. A MUST-BUY!! Can’t wait for the next book to find out what happened!

Fable of Happiness. WOW again! 2nd book was better than the first. So intense. At 3:00 am, as I try to see the words through my tears, I refuse to put it down. I’m on to Book 3 with great anticipation.

Absolutely Brilliant. Pepper is an amazing author! She has never disappointed me with her books and this is no exception! It’s an absolutely beautiful and brilliant story and I can’t wait for the next book.

Captivating and harrowing. Heart wrenching. Absolutely heart wrenching. Learning more about Kas and his past in that Godforsaken place makes me want to weep. And makes me angry. And makes me want more for him. Having Gemma (who is used to the insurmountable) along side him makes me hopeful but the constant struggle with the depraved ghosts from his past is agonising. Will he get the life he deserves? Will he ever be at peace? Pepper has made me fall in love with this tortured soul (she has a knack for that) and I want for him the happy ever after. (That bath scene *sigh* - makes me want to race out and get papaya body wash…) What I wasn’t expecting was that ending. This has added a whole other facet to this wicked tale. Another hauntingly beautiful but very dark book that has stayed in my thoughts long after I turned the last page.
