One of the largest threats to most people's health is having a poor diet. This coupled with a sedentary lifestyle is a recipe for developing one or more of the chronic illnesses that plague modern man. Almost all processed foods have enormous amounts of added sugar to make them more palatable. The average person in the Western World now consumes over 40 teaspoons of sugar a day from processed foods, that is about 20% of their caloric intake an incredible 130 pounds of sugar a year. In a can of soda, there is about 6 teaspoons of sugar, a 12-oz coke has 9 teaspoons and in one slice of white bread there are 2 teaspoons of refined sugar. A banana split from a fast-food joint has 24 teaspoons of refined sugar.

90% of the white blood cells in your body, the immune system defense are effectively paralyzed by eating 25 teaspoons of refined sugar 90% of your white blood cells for about 5 hours. This is a lot of sugar to be eating, but the average person in the western world now eats over 40 tsp. of sugar a day unknowingly from processed foods.
