Väter haben einen schweren Stand. Sie gelten als verantwortungslos, sind verschrien als Drückeberger und manch einer hält sie für die Erziehung des Kindes als überflüssig. Auf der anderen Seite wird die Beziehung zwischen Vater und Sohn als eine besondere, trotzdem aber noch wenig erforschte zwischenmenschliche Beziehung angesehen. In der Fachliteratur der letzten 50 Jahre taucht der Vater nur als Randfigur auf. Marga Kreckel (1996) erklärt sich diesen Fakt damit, dass die Männer jeher die Herrscher im Hause waren, einen unantastbaren Status besaßen. Doch dies hat sich in unserer respektlosen Reporterdemokratie geändert, endlich wird auch der Vater in das Blickfeld entwicklungspsychologischer Wissenschaft gerückt. Mit dieser Arbeit möchte ich selber mein Interesse an diesem Thema stillen und aufzeigen, dass Vätern gerade in der Beziehung zu ihren Söhnen sehr viel Bedeutung beigemessen wird.
