Favorite Memoir. My personal favorite no matter how many times I read it or purchased. The first time I laid my eyes on these pages I was up all night. Worth every cent!

AMAZING. Beautiful book. Amazing. Eye opening. Sad. But wow.

Frustrating, more than anything.... I'm writing this review before I'm done with the book bc I must vent! There's only a chapter left and -- don't get me wrong -- I'm enjoying the book. It's one of those stories where I want to scream at the main character (in this case, the author) and knock some sense into her/him. For the writer to be loyal and to love parents like hers, only fills me with anger and disbelief. Bad parents don't deserve love and respect and her parents go way past being just lousy parents. They are truly insane and that mother goes beyond selfish. The writing is decent but it's a very easy read. I wasn't bored and it held my interest. If I could understand the author's naive loyalty better, I would like the book more. Spoiler: the parents refused to work their entire lives while their children starved. The children should have left and never looked back. I'll finish the book but I'm mostly angry and confused about loving two people that deserve it least in the world.

Hooked!. This book drew me in from the first page! I grew up in the West Virginia area and the entire story was fascinating and so well written. I plan on reading anything from Ms. Walls.

An amazing book everyone should read. I absolutely love this book, I could not put it down. I hope this authors writes more books. I've referred this book to several of my friends. She wrote it in such a way it's as if you were right there with her during her life. Beautiful and yet made me shed some tears.

Good read. It has a great sequence, and is a great read. The only bad thing about this book is the profanity.

Very good!. The Glass Castle is a memoir by Jeanette Walls, a journalist in New York City. It reads a lot like fiction, but is about real events from her life. The pacing is good, and I never got bored reading it. She does a very good job of developing the characters of her family, especially her dad. Overall, I thought this was a very good book, but would recommend it for mature audiences only because of a few parts in the book that might be inappropriate for younger readers.

The Glass Castle. Fascinating read

Interesting Read. Great story about the author’s life journey with an unconventional family. It is her journey and written in her style. I totally get the appeal of this book as at times it is heart warming and at others you feel infuriated. There was a lack of emotion connected with most of the book which I found difficult. As a side note I’m so devastated that Child Welfare had not followed up on this family. These poor kids needed beds and baths. These kids were neglected by all....a vast travesty.

Enjoyable!. As a high school student, books that I choose to read for class aren’t very interesting to me, and take me a long time to get through. This book on the other hand made me excited to read, and to figure out what adventure was going to happen next.

The Glass Castle. Loved it! This was a well written story of the life of Jeannette Walls and her adventurous upbringing. The Glass Castle carried me through this journey as I learned so much about this inspirational character! Jeannette is strong, determined, kind and genuine. She is courageous and level minded. These characteristics get her through the highs and lows! What an amazing ride! I would recommend this book to anyone!

Wonderful story. It was hard to feel sorry for those kids since they didn't feel sorry for themselves most of the time. I would have liked to read the story from one of the other children's point of view

Couldn't Put It Down. Jeannette has a unique perspective in her writing style; I don't recall ever reading anything like her. She had me at hello. Started reading this is the morning, finished it that night. Excellent book.

A wonderful story!. I truly loved this story and was in awe throughout the entire book at the events that took place. I was almost in disbelief that this could be a true story until the family came to Welch West Virginia, a town only two hours away. After I read the description and her story during her time there, I could imagine it all and it was very relatable to the area. I laughed, cried, and felt the anger she felt at times. It was a beautifully written memoir that takes you all over the US, feeling as though you are living it all with the author.

Unforgettable true story. I never read nonfiction but I'm so glad someone recommended this to me. Unbelievable life story. Admire this brave woman! READ THIS BOOK

I love a good “coming of age book” and the struggles of life and coming on the other side of it. I’m so glad I read this and absolutely recommended it.
