The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown Book Summary

The beloved New York Times bestseller from acclaimed author Eleanor Brown about three sisters who love each other, but just don't happen to like each other very much.

Three sisters have returned to their childhood home, reuniting the eccentric Andreas family. Here, books are a passion (there is no problem a library card can't solve) and TV is something other people watch. Their father—a professor of Shakespeare who speaks almost exclusively in verse—named them after the Bard's heroines. It's a lot to live up to.

The sisters each have a hard time communicating with their parents and their lovers, but especially with one another. What can the shy homebody eldest sister, the fast-living middle child, and the bohemian youngest sibling have in common? Only that none has found life to be what was expected; and now, faced with their parents' frailty and their own personal disappointments, not even a book can solve what ails them...

Self-proclaimed Weird Sister. My mom handed me the book with a promise of parallels in our "weird" family. The author did an excellent job of providing a voice for the individuals and the sisters as one mind. Reminiscent of Kingsolver's Poisonwood Bible. I'm not sure exactly which sister(s) I identify with, but I think each of us can find a piece of herself here, and maybe even one we're proud of...

Horrible.. One if the worst books I've read.

Entertaining. The character's are likable. Great writing. A good read for a quiet night in.

Good Read. Thought this ended abruptly. Otherwise I loved the multiple person view of the book as well as the well placed quotes. Extremely enjoyable read.

Wonderful!. It made me laugh, and cry, more appreciate my family. Thank you!

the weird sisters. Loved this book. A fascinating story of three sisters....all very different, but also strangely alike. A knowledge of Shakespeare will add to the enjoyment of your reading. Looking for something else by this author.

Good read!. I enjoyed it - quick, cute read.

The Youngest weird sis. You either know these people or you are one. The love, jealousy, adoration and distain all live side by side, just like the sisters do. Good read...well done.

So so. It was an ok read, but a little slow and mostly predictable once she got to all the conflicts. I definitely expected a better ending with all the fluff of the build up. Oh well, but it was not bad just so so...

Boring. I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did. The characters are stereotypical & I knew exactly how their lives would play out in the end...perfect of course! Snore. Wish I never bought it.

Goooooooooood. Lllllloooooovvvvvveeeeee. Iiiiiitttttt

The Weird Sisters. An engaging read, this book kept me satisfied without the bells and whistles one thinks they want in a book. I loved the use of "third person" voice of not one of the sisters, but all three. Unusual and appropriate to the book's whole concept. The voice of the Bard throughout was enchanting and lent a legitimacy to the author's own capable prose. Thank you for The Weird Sisters!

The Weird Sisters. A decent read, but a little slow for me.

Trudged through it. Was disappointed and I was hoping for a better read. I found two of the main characters very annoying, so much so that I almost put it down a few times. I can't recommend.

Great mechanics liked the book. The book worked great. I could read it fine. The book itself (content) was fine. I would give it a "b" ergo the four stars. I think that anyone who would read this would find it enjoying.

Weird sisters. A good read I am the youngest of four sisters .the story brought me many memories I will read more by this author

The Weird Sisters. It's a pleasant read, nice story and a change of pace from more intense books. Once hooked you can't put it down....

The Weird Sisters. As the youngest of three sisters, I enjoyed reading this book. Although our father didn't quote Shakespeare , he had his own way of referring to us individually. This book brought back memories both good and sad, and made me see that as we do try to stay away from the likeness of our sisters we really are alike in so many ways.

Nothing more than a glorified romance novel. I had very high hopes for this book, but found myself becoming more and more disappointed with each passing chapter. And the lines from Shakespeare that were peppered throughout the novel seemed like a desperate attempt to prove that it was more than a romance novel. (Don't be fooled: it's not.) After reading several chapters, it occurred to me that if these three daughters were real, they'd be too stupid to name a Shakespearean play beyond Romeo and Juliet, let alone commit entire sonnets to memory, no matter who their father was. On to the one-dimensional characters! Rose was neurotic, high strung and whiny. Of course, her fiancé is wonderful, everything you could ask for in a Danielle Steele knockoff. He's handsome, sweet, smart, loving, warm, caring...basically, he sounds like a complete pansy. And of course, he simply adores Rose, even though I wanted to punch her in the face. Cordelia was useless, a complete spoiled brat, with an amazing guy who shows up and doesn't have a problem that some other guy knocked her up. Awww, Part 2. Bean...I actually liked Bean. She was bitchy, self-centered, seriously flawed...and knew it. While Rose and Cordelia tried to excuse away their personality traits ("But I'm the oldest/youngest! It's always been this way! It's not my fault! Poor me!"), Bean realizes that she has no one to blame but herself. Good for you, babe. Own those demons. All in all, this book was a complete waste of my time.

Weird Sisters. Delightful read, I am requesting "my" weird sisters read. They will enjoy this book.
