Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut Book Summary

“A free-wheeling vehicle . . . an unforgettable ride!”—The New York Times

Cat’s Cradle is Kurt Vonnegut’s satirical commentary on modern man and his madness. An apocalyptic tale of this planet’s ultimate fate, it features a midget as the protagonist, a complete, original theology created by a calypso singer, and a vision of the future that is at once blackly fatalistic and hilariously funny. A book that left an indelible mark on an entire generation of readers, Cat’s Cradle is one of the twentieth century’s most important works—and Vonnegut at his very best.

“[Vonnegut is] an unimitative and inimitable social satirist.”—Harper’s Magazine

“Our finest black-humorist . . . We laugh in self-defense.”—Atlantic Monthly

The mystery of Bokononism. This book is a fantastic piece of literature. It is, at some parts, difficult to understand. You have to think deeply about some of the quotes from Bokonon and you realize their deeper meaning. Overall an excellent book.

Oh my God.. This book. This book is so incredible in so many ways that for me to express all my love for it would take hours. Kurt Vonnegut is at his prime, writing a cynical yet hopeful, dark yet hilarious, beautiful book about the apocalypse. ‘Cats Cradle’ has a screaming soul that only Vonnegut could construct. The way he captures so perfectly the inner workings of humanity. This has become my favorite satirical comedy. A compelling read, and a book that can be read over and over. Thank you Kurt Vonnegut. Oh my god, I love this novel.

Amazing. You would regret this!! 😄

Cat's Cradle Comment. What a circular cat's cradle full of a bunch of Bokonon's. I have 5932 characters left to describe this book, but it's better if you read it rather than its Wikipedia plot, so you understand the CCC world full of OG's and OP's.

What a great book!. Probably not for everyone but a great, satirical read. Was my first Vonnegut read and I loved it.

The Last Sentence is Perfect. Yes, it is.

Not for everyone... Certain type of humour is demanded. But still a well written interesting and easy to read book

I Want My Cash Money Backkkkk. I mean the book is probably fine, tho the summaries seem boring. I never read the book, but bought it anyways for school. I want to download minecraft BUT I CANT BC I SPENT MY MONEY ON THIS BOOK THAT I DONT NEED TO READ BC IM IN AP!! ugh.

What I think.. When I was 22 years old, I met a young woman in a coffee shop in Southern California. She gave me her copy of “Cats Cradle.” As she handed it to me, she said, “This book will change your life.” I never saw her again. I’m now 52, and I just finished re-reading this book for the first time in 10 years—though I’d read it at least a dozen times before then. She was right, that young woman in the coffee shop. I can’t begin to promise this book will have the same affect on you. Maybe you’ll like it. Maybe you’ll hate it. That’s art for you. That’s life. But for me, to this day, it remains my very favorite book.

Cats Cradle. Love the honesty & lies in this book! If I was such a writer as the author of this book I would have something profound to say...as it is, I am not. But what a treat to have encountered this book. I am forever grateful.

Life. Just read

I Loved this book.... At the age of seventeen. At thirty-three, I found it very challenging to keep reading. I wonder what changed?

An Anthology of Human Stupidity. A dark comedy that examines both the futility and the usefulness of humanity’s sacred institutions - science, religion, government, history, and family being the most discussed. It’s a paradox of a book. At one moment it’s a commendation of innovation when paired with human naïveté, and at the same time it explores the importance of the very naïveté that may lead to our destruction. A worthwhile, unforgettable read.

Cat's craddle. Very good. Read it as a theatre play

Cat's Cradle. What a wonderful book. With the wit of "A Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court", the mystique of "Alice in Wonderland", and the far-off otherworldly aura of "Gulliver's Travels", Vonnegut takes the reader to a magical place, a fun and entertaining place, where one may just become a little bit wiser. A good read!

Cats cradle. This book was very hard to read, it was all over the place and I could not keep track of it. After 17 chapters I had enough. This book was not for me. It’s gone.
