A treat!. It's fun when a book makes you burst out laughing, and not just for the funny looks you get. This short story is a condensed version of some of the best of Brust's sense of humor. It's probably better enjoyed with a knowledge of the characters from the Vlad series, but perhaps entertaining on it's own.

Another shard in the wall. Brust gives another sliver in the world of Dragaera, with his telltale wit and patented brevity. All too short, but I'm grateful for even scraps of his clockwork universe.

Perfectly solid Brust. It's always entertaining to get some dry, slightly bloodthirsty Dragaera humor, & this is what's here. Would have liked more Daymar, though. That's the only shortcoming. Needs more weirdo Hawklord.
