Jane Austen At Her Best. Jane Austen's novels have always included a worthy villain- but this is the first one told chiefly from the villain's viewpoint. Austen's incredible understanding of human character, motivation and interaction shines forth in this story of a woman determined to lie herself through life and the way those around her respond to it. It reminds me most of Mansfield Park, though this story is certainly unique among her works.

Great book. What can I say, I love the book. Come on it's Jane Austen.

A must read. I'm a fan of Austen and have always loved her books. I've read all of her other books, but saved this for last and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the style and the wit, and I think anyone who likes Austen will most certainly enjoy this uniquely written book.

Basic but Gold!. We see this plot a lot nowadays, however the story was written in such a way that it allows us to experience it anew with new characters and different setting. Written with innovation and ambition, the epistolary format gives us an incredibly unique insight into the character’s minds as they have little to hold them back, as they often write to people they trust. Although it might take some getting used to, the novel presents a unique presentation which demands more attention to truly grasp what unfolds. The characters were masterpieces from start to finish, and Frederica’s treatment by her mother will bring you to feel for her like any of Austen’s heroines.

Great Jane Austen Book. This one is one I hadn’t heard of prior to the Love and Friendship movie coming out. But I loved the movie and equally loved the book! Although the plot is slightly different in both, I love the letter-style narration and emotion Austen can evoke from the reader toward Lady Susan. It’s a great, clean read!

Iconic. This needs to be made in to a show

Lady Susan. I have long since loved Jane Austin so was pleased to read something from her I was surprisingly unacquainted with. I was kept interested enough to read it in one sitting although was surprised yet gradually pleased that the whole book was entirely of made up of correspondence between some of the characters, it made for a good idea as it allowed things to be said through personal correspondence that they would not say perhaps in company. One has to round out the characters in ones own imagination to a certain degree although you get a general sense of them, the characters are not as fully developed as in Miss Austins other books. I did though find it quite amusing, Lady Susan is quite a character. It is definitely worth a read and is certainly of merit but look at it more for amusement as one is not entirely captivated and attached as one is with some of her other wonderful books.
