Heart - Breaking. The years that these 3 young men lost can never be replaced and how sad that the lives of the young victims are mostly remembered by this injustice.

Tragic. Such a sad, sad tale of law enforcement gone wrong causing tremendous pain to three innocent victims. Not only were three boys murdered but three others were tortured slowly. I wish them all the very best.

Unbelievable. The truth continues to be stranger than fiction. The West Memphis 3 have had to endure the horror is injustice that no one could imagine. That they have survived is a wonder, but survive with such grace and dignity speaks to the strength of character of these guys but their family, friends, and supporters. Damien's voice is incredible. His tender eloquence and brutal honesty is a force of nature. God bless Lorri Davis. These kindred spirits are divine. God Bless all of you.

Haunting. I devoured this book in a single day. I couldn't put it down. His story is fascinating. What's even more fascinating is the way he describes things and his writing level. His ability to make me live his life through his words is invigorating and sucked the life out of me all at the same time.

Great to read the truth.. I've always been fascinated with the WM3 ever since accidentally stumbling upon the HBO documentary Paradise Lost. Ever since then, I've long yearned for the real story. After doing my own research and exhausting all he resources I could from freewm3.org I've drew my own conclusions about this case. These boys were innocent and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it. This book invites you into the torture Damien was dealing with as we'll a educates you on the whole process. Great read.

Life After Death. This "news" story haunted me from the beginning. My own children were born in the 70's, we lived in Memphis, & common sense negated every "story". I remember asking my son, very seriously, "do you wear all black because of a satanic cult?" "NO, MOM!! I'm Catholic!" I was relieved, but the story of these boys, bothered me, because of a kid being different!!! Read this book!! You will, cry, laugh, ( in my case, relate), & feel joy for their release, but incredible sadness, for the horrific "Spun Stories" which kept these young men from life. Mr. Damien Echols, Thank you. BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN!!. This story really inspired and awestruck me from the very beginning. I had watched all four documentaries made about the case and the Hollywood movie, Devils Knot, and none of them got to me like Damien's story. I hope that Damien eventually gets exonerated so that he can continue on his path of life and do what will make his life complete. I hope to be able to attend an interview of some sort one day so that I can ask him many of my unanswered question. I wish Damien the best.

Devoured this book. I used to live in Memphis in the mid to late 90's up to 2002 so I remember hearing the name "West Memphis 3" etc but until I happened upon this book at a book store I had no idea what a travesty of justice these three boys endured. I read this book in 2 days. How he maintained his humanity in the face of the brutality and inhumanity of the penal system is literally beyond me. I would have died. Mind boggling story. I used to teach American history and I cannot believe this happened in this country.

Heart wrenching and inspiring. Damian's story is so unbelievable I couldn't put the book down. I have been telling everyone I know to read this book. I am inspired by his strength. I only hope that I can have the kind of clarity, determination, and strength of mind and soul he has one day amongst all the chaos he has endured. it's a must read.

Ok. Feel bad for the guy. This is one slow book though.

Interesting and important. If you have followed the case and struggles of these men then you will want to read this insightful and honest book. It gives such a "bigger view" of the kids behind the conviction. What their lives, challenges, and struggles were before this injustice. Damien shares raw, honest, real life accounts of what life was like before and after the convictions. And it is a clear picture of the imperfections of our system.

Awe inspiring!. This book is a must read for anyone that has followed the state sanctioned torture of these three men. Damien is a gifted writer and while you might want to cry at times the book is just too inspiring for sad tears. I wish Damien, Jason and Jesse the best of luck for their free futures. Now let's get them exonerated!!

Awesome Read. A book written truly from the heart, from a very down to earth guy. Everyone should read this.

INCREDIBLE STORY. This is just the most interesting book I've ever read. Just to know that Damien overcomes such injustice and abuse that he went to hell and back and be able to tell the story is just so very inspiring. I love everything about it. I couldn't get enough of it I listened to the audio every chance I got. I highly recommend it!

Brilliant. This book is brilliant. It's such a breathtaking and sad story but Damien tells it in such a way that you just want to keep reading and not put it down. Readers can really feel the emotion.

More than you think. This isn't just about the WM3. This is about poverty in the South, child neglect, the draw of religion, moral panic, the horrors of prison life, and a young man desperately holding onto his sanity in the process. His writing is heartbreaking and hopeful all rolled into one. Thank you for writing this Damien. May you continue to impact lives and create positive changes.

Heart Wrenching. I couldn't put it down! The injustice and years stolen from these young men without compensation for the cruel and abusive way they lived incarcerated is a disgrace. Thank you for writing the book.

Moving. Unsettling.. Don't take this the wrong way, but reading this book was like waking from a bad dream. You know, the certain dreams you have that affect your consciousness as you go about your day... I was so mesmerized by Damien's words that I felt like he was my friend and I needed to help--to take action! But at the time the book was published he had been released. His words were from the past. He had already suffered 18 years locked in a cage for something someone else did, and his mind lingered on the possibility of being "put down" like a dog because someone decided he was "bad". As horrible as the story may be, it is totally worth the read. It will change you. It will make you strive to be better. In a subconscious way, it will alter your perception of existence--but make you hate the "justice" system.

Wow!!. God Bless these guys! So disappointed in our legal system. I appreciate this book and all the for more information notes at the end. I won’t be able to sleep peacefully until I get involved with an organization that helps the wrongfully accused.

Great book! A real life horror story.. This was an awesome book. Very well written.

An Important Story. It is amazing to me that Damien maintained his humanity and sensitivity despite the brutalities inflicted on him. This is the first book I've read that doesn't gloss over the hell of prison existence. It is also an important story because it proves that the mentality and circumstances which led to the persecution and murder of innocent persons during the time of the Salem Witch Trials is alive and well in modern-day society. We must make sure this does not happen again. Our criminal justice system needs to be re-examined and also taken out of the hands of those whose agenda is not truth.

So-so. For the most part the book was good. I found at times he rambled on to the point where I skipped pages to find more interesting parts.

Damien Eccles. Great read. It educated me on how unfair the justice system can be .

Hard to understand. It is extremely hard to understand that some people that have sworn to uphold the law are either to lazy or want to cause harm to another just because they can. An excellent read and I do hope that these, now three men, get the justice they truly deserve.
