Loved. This is my new favorite book ever. I am immediately starting the next one.

Was just OK. I liked book 1, it had it’s cheesy moments but overall I was locked in. Book 2 I had a difficult time getting through the dialogue and the romance aspect. Their relationship was the worst part of the book ( which consumed about 80% of the book) How many times do they say “we’ll fight later” so cringy Constantly had to remind myself this is YA book.

Best YA Book of 2023. This book really has it all romance, dragons, and a revolution. I had a lot of expectations coming into this series and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend this series to anyone however I especially recommend it to those who love Harry Potter, game of thrones, and twilight. The mix of romance and suspense,is one for the generation.

Wonderful story. This is an amazing story. The backstory, history, and culture of the world expand further than ever before. The plot sends the reader on a continuous ride of emotions for the beginning to the very end. My heart is so sore after reading this book. The characters expand in new and interesting ways. They learn things about each other and themselves that had my jaw dropping. I love the relationships that are created, changed, and grown through this book. That has to be my favorite part. Well that and the snappy banter. The next book cannot come soon enough.

Speachless. I don’t know what to say besides ……my whole heart is in anguish I need the next book!!!!

Sex sex fighting. Couldn’t wait for this to read but was disappointed with all the graphic sex. Kind of annoying how sappy the 2 leads have become and truly disgusted with the ultra predictable ending. It’s upsetting that YA can’t be better. The dragons were great, the fighting was great and then it just deteriorated into yet another garbage YA series. Sad.

SO GOOD but…. I liked this book a lot, not as much as Fourth Wing though. I think a majority of my issues with Iron Flame are surrounding the ending and not necessarily the book as a whole, so that’s why four stars instead of five.

Good, but disappointing.. You could read the last 300 pages and feel satisfied. The first 80% of the book is nothing but arguments between Violet and Xadan, Andarna being a brat, and Tairn being his usual grumpy self. You honestly don’t learn ANYTHING. The idea was there, but the execution of this book felt disappointing in comparison to Fourth Wing. I think this book was rushed and should’ve been spread out more evenly than cramming all of the action into the last 6 chapters.

Iron Flame - OUTSTANDING. The non-stop, heart pounding, action and the overwhelming passion made this book nearly impossible to put down! Loved it!

Absolutely singe-ful.. This is so amazing. I cannot even begin to describe the secrets you’ll learn. Shocking. Omg.

Excellent!. I always want more of this fabulous series. So creative and well written.

Not sure about the hype. I loved the fourth wing book a lot so I was hoping the second would be just as good but it’s really not. It drags on for long chunks of time and is just a bit dead in spirit. It seems like rather than expanding on things from the first book a lot is just repeated and you’re staying in the same settings as the first book. To be fair I am also now trying to go back to shorter books but this just wasn’t it. I think it was pushed out too quickly.

Love the story line without the sex. I would give it 5 stars but the very descriptive love scenes are not for me. A little more romance and less Penthouse please!

Loveddd. I read this book in a couple days. Although it wasn’t as good as the first book, I believe this book was packed with foreshadowing and once I finished reading I was mind blown.

Fun read. A lot of suspenseful moments in this novel with some twists and turns. It was a fun read both Fourth Wing and Iron Flame.

Hooked for the Empyrean Ride!!!. 4 stars on my first read, 5 stars on my second read thru. There’s so much more to the Empyrean world than I thought after Fourth Wing. I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds. I have full faith Rebecca has this crazy ride all mapped out beautifully, even though parts of this book made me so angry!!! But that’s the fun in story telling. She took us on a roller coaster and I’m here for all the character tension, adventure, theories, world building, magic, emotion, and spice. So much fun!!!

This is how you write a second book!!!. Rebecca Yarros absolutely killed it with this book. I was worried that given the events at the end of the first book, that would be the end of our time at Basgiath and the rest of the series would be a totally different vibe. But the characters were given a believable return and I’m grateful because it was so engaging, so much fun learning more about the Rider education and everything that goes into it. The entire climax of the book is chef’s kiss. The feelings I felt for characters I thought I hated. The GASP I gasped at the twist at the end. AND props to the author, she narrowly avoided the trap that I feel a lot of other YA authors fall into (the one where once the two MCs acknowledge that they’re in love, the author no longer knows how to write them and it gets boring and cringey). Absolutely loved this book, can’t wait for the next one.

I need the next book ASAP. I loved fourth wing and was looking forward to iron flame and oh boy it did not disappoint! I looooved it!

Live on the Edge. This book is definitely slower in pace from the first. However, it’s filled with so much details about the history and the revolution. I am hoping sneak peaks into the history of Basgiath and Tyrrendor ties all the pieces together in book 3. In true Rebecca Yarros style of writing there is a little dramatic irony which keeps the readers asking questions and going through the journey alongside the characters. I am hoping by the end of the Empyrean series that Xaden and Violet fate is in fact intermingled and leads to a pleasant ending. They deserve a chance not having to run, hide or fight to the death. Takeaways from the book: You never know what will happen in your next moment, so say I love you and live in the current!

Absolutely Captivating.. Overly grateful for this series emerging this year. It is thoroughly amazing and I just can’t get enough of it. Thank you, Rebecca for creating this for us.

This e-version is incomplete. There are several places where sentences are cut off, especially at the end of chapters. Very frustrating.

Wow. I’m beyond happy I got into this whole series, the pace is incredible and it got me reignited into reading again!

OBSESSED. Loved this book just as much as I loved the 1st book of the series! And that cliff hanger??? I cannot wait for the next book. I had to buy the audiobook, ebook, AND a physical copy I loved it so much.

My GAWD. Deep internal screams!!!!! Amazing writing, amazing story, I can’t wait to read what happens next. But my GAWD!!! The heart racing anxiety. You only put this book down for the emotional breath. This is peak story telling!

GAME CHANGER. Not a lot of sequels can beat the first and this one did it! Absolutely love this series. You have a dedicated fan for life! A peer to Harry Potter, if not better, for adults!

I love the magic but…. And I like the story a lot, but had a hard time understanding all the in’s,, and outs of the way the wards work. It was confusing to me, I wouldn’t be able to explain it to anyone.

In less than a minute.. It’s hard to put into words exactly what I want to say because as much as I did love this book. The other part of me wishes I never read it now that I know I have 12 months before I can find out what happens. This book was more political than the last, so, while I still read it in three days, it felt harder to get through than the first book in the series. But I am truly devastated at the ending Rebecca did it incredible job as a writer, I’d still do it all over again. In less than a minute.

Fun but sloppy.. A fun and gripping read but sloppy in a lot of places. I think its plot could have benefitted from more simplicity. Fails to hold a candle to the first book in the series.

Romance or Fantasy. Well mostly romance. She has the ability to tell a great story but the cheesy sex in the first book was amped up further. She has chosen her genre and it isn’t really fantasy. I like her dragons but her character development was less in this book. Xaden was a love sick fool. I read the reviews for Book 3 which seemed to be a romantic love fest so I am now done with this series.

Love!. Best book ever!! The twists! The action! All of it is a perfect sequel to Fourth Wing

Amazing Read. I could not put this book down. So many unexpected twists and turns. You can’t help but root for the riders. The action kept going until the very end. Great book!

Heart-wrenching. Bring a box of tissues for the ending… I binge read this book and the 1st book (Fourth wing) within a week and a half. And The hangover is maddening… I have so many questions! Prepare to laugh, smile, fight for fictional characters, fall-in-love, and cry all in the span of few days.

Worse than the first. A lot of predictable twists. Annoying repetitive drama between Xaden and Violet that seems to just randomly end. Wish there was more world building instead of their dumb drama.

Beyond Excellent. This is one of the best series ever. It will keep you all night, just to continue to the next chapter.

All stars to story, negative stars for editors. The editing/ organization ruined this book. The story being told is so good! There was no need to rush out this publication, and with a bit more thoughtful care this would have been a incredible book.

Iron flame. I think I actually enjoyed this one more than the first book. Heart pounding action the amazing twists and turns throughout the book make this an a outstanding read! Can’t wait for the 3rd book in this unforgettable series!
