Written by a British novelist of romance stories, Amelia Edith Huddleston Barr, Remember the Alamo is an interesting and unique take on the famous story of the unforgettable battle. A pivotal event in the Texas Revolution, the Battle of the Alamo resulted in the death of all but two Texian defenders after a 13-day siege of the city by Mexican troops. Although the battle was a crippling defeat for the state, losing men like famous frontiersman, Davy Crockett, the battle inspired the troops to defeat Santa Anna’s army and avenge the massacre at the Alamo. Shouting the famous battle cry “Remember the Alamo!” the Texian army was able to defeat the Mexican troops at the Battle of San Jacinto a month later on April 21, 1836, ending the revolution and resulting in the Republic of Texas. Today, the Alamo is not forgotten. With the famous cry engraved on the official state seal, Texans and all Americans will always remember the Alamo.
