Burying Water by K.A. Tucker Book Summary

The highly anticipated start of the “masterful” (New York Journal of Books) romantic suspense series from the beloved nationally bestselling author of Ten Tiny Breaths.

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

Two life time’s and two people. Love and loss. Quick read.. It’s book by this author and I’m hooked. Starting another one now. Try it, you’ll love them.

Book 1 is outstanding. I'm still thinking about Alex.. This is the first book in the Burying Water series. It's a standalone story. This is Jesse and Alex's story. It is told in both POV's. The story shifts between past and present in a timely fashion. It about two characters who fall in love twice, once as Jesse and Alex and then again as Jesse and Water. Jesse is a mechanic at Rust's garage. Alex is Viktor's wife. Alex is found beaten and left for dead by Viktor. It's Jesse who finds her and saves her. Then fate intervenes. The story begins with Alex recovering in the hospital. She awakens with amnesia. It's a new beginning. Alex always wanted a fresh start. It's a wonderful journey learning about Alex from Jesse's perspective and then watching the new Alex create a new identity for herself. Alex has amnesia and Jesse and the Sheriff are the only two who know what happened to her but decide not to tell her to protect her. In time her memory will return when she's ready to accept the truth. I like that I can rest easy knowing that Alex was found and survived. The story starts from the point of her being found beaten to death and then goes back to the point when she met Jesse. I am glued to these pages reading at a quick rate determined to reach the point when Viktor finds out. It's all I can think about. I'm obsessed. It is a contemporary romance which includes a Russian mobster and a town Sheriff. Even though I read these stories out of sequence I was still able to follow along. The second story is about Amber traveling. The third story is about Luke and Uncle Rust. The third story cameos Jesse and Alex in some scenes. KA did a grand job with the symbolism with the tree. The word game was another brilliant idea. Ginny was an intricate character to a flawless story. This one kept me up at night pondering the life of Alex and all she endured. My best part of the story was the epilogue when all the holes were filled into the puzzle regarding Viktor.

Burying Water. Wow, fantastic story. I loved every minute of it! I couldn't put it down!

AMAZING. I finished this book a few days ago, and have been thinking about what I was going to write for my review. Even at this point, I don't know that I will be able to really get across just how much I LOVED this book. I am a HUGE fan of K.A. Tucker's, I was so happy to be introduced to her books at a book signing of three other authors over a year ago, since then I have read the entire TTB series, and now Burying Water. I knew the general idea of this book, but hadn't even read the description, I felt like I didn't really need to as I knew if it's written by K.A Tucker, then it's going to be amazing. And as always I wasn't disappointed. I was hooked after just reading the prologue, I mean how is it possible that an author can hock you after 4 pages....4 PAGES! But K.A. does. You're curious as to how this girl came to being dumped on the side of the road in an abandoned area and the guy who is trying to save her. We then meet Jane Doe in the hospital after she wakes up from something that no one should walk up from. I love that this story jumps from now to then and from her to his point of view, it really gives the story a well rounded feel. I found this to be a story of hope rather then despair. It's a great example of the mind's ability to overcome trauma and that the heart sometimes knows better then the mind. As we see Water come into her own and start her new life in the little small town of Sisters we really get to see how her draw to Jesse is something she can't help or stop. I love the connection she builds with all members of her community, from Ginny to Dakota and of course the good Doctor, her Sheriff husband and nurse daughter and of course the mechanic son (Jesse), she truly embarrasses the idea of her new life. Even if she doesn't realize it. As her memory comes back in snippets she knows there is a reason she is in Sisters and a pull to Jesse she just doesn't know why. "Something tells me Jesse is the kind of guy that I can always count on. My gut must be telling me that I had someone just like him in my previous life. Someone I trusted" The only minor thing I wish was included was more detail on why or how she ended up abandoned, but I am torn about this as well, I am happy she never remembered that, because no one should remember something that brutal. I am holding out hope that maybe we will get a little more info into that with Becoming Rain. As always, an AMAZING read by K.A.Tucker and I can't wait for anything that is next...and I am even thinking about reading her Casual Encounter series, even though I am not a fan of paranormal at all....i just figure if I am going to like any paranormal series it would be K.A.Tuckers!

Water and jesse. Brilliant you have out done yourself again on a well written story. Had me on the edge with each chapter loved it, read it on one sitting. Love all your books. Can't wait for your next one! MJ
