Pol temni je prva knjiga iz trilogije Polovično življenje in prvi roman angleške pisateljice Sally Green. Napeta fantazijska pustolovščina o boju za preživetje v skrivnem svetu vešč in veščev bliskovito hitro osvaja bralce po vsem svetu. V na videz vsakdanjem svetu med navadnimi ljudmi živijo vešči in vešče. Beli in črni. Dobri in slabi. Med njimi pa tli goreče sovraštvo in se bije neusmiljen boj. Nathan že od malega ve, da je drugačen. Pa ne le od ljudi, temveč tudi od vseh drugih veščev. Je pol črn po očetu, pol bel po mami. Mama je mrtva, z očetom – enim najstrašnejših vodij črnih veščev – pa nima nobenih stikov. Toda Nathan bo kmalu dopolnil sedemnajst let in takrat mora vsak veščji otrok od svojih staršev prejeti tri darila, ki v njem sprožijo prirojeni čarovniški dar. Brez njih je njegova usoda zapečatena. Razpet med željo, da bi spoznal očeta, in bojaznijo, da bo v njem prevladalo očetovo zlo, mora Nathan usodo vzeti v svoje roke.
