The Thought Readers by Dima Zales Book Summary

Everyone thinks I’m a genius.

Everyone is wrong.

Sure, I finished Harvard at eighteen and now make crazy money at a hedge fund. But that’s not because I’m unusually smart or hard-working.

It’s because I cheat.

You see, I have a unique ability. I can go outside time into my own personal version of reality—the place I call “the Quiet”—where I can explore my surroundings while the rest of the world stands still.

I thought I was the only one who could do this—until I met her.

My name is Darren, and this is how I learned that I’m a Reader.

Intriguing scifi/fantasy novel with a twist of suspense and dramaThe beginning of the book started a tad bit slow for me personally, though admittedly it was necessary in forming the main character. Dima Zales has well thought out characters and circumstances of how each new character gets introduced into the story without losing any of the suspense. Darren and his mind games was really a delightful change. I especially enjoyed the fact that he accepted his gifts and used them in his life, perhaps not as anyone would have but it suited his character. Dima Zales keeps you wanting to know what happens next. The story line is very interesting and you are thereupon drawn into the novel. The Thought Readers will grab you intensely as you are entertained by their world within your world. I highly recommend this scifi/fantasy novella with a twist of suspense and drama spiced up with some great fun!.Score: 5/5

LOVE the premiseLOVE the premise of this series. This was more well-written than the prequel, and I had a really hard time putting it down to do things that I was supposed to do (work, fix dinner, sleep... all those boring things that get in the way of reading...). There were a few things I saw coming, and a few that surprised me, and I'm dying to read the rest of the series to find out if some of my predictions will come true or not. VERY happy that I found this series!!.Score: 5/5

Fast and Fun!The first book of the Thought Readers series was just what I hoped it would be: A action-packed, fast-paced, science fiction book. From the beginning, the story moves at lightning pace. Never once during the story did I feel bored, and I was glued to it until the finish. The story itself, of a man who can read minds, is nothing new, but the way Dima Zales explored it was fresh to me, and I felt like it was a brand new concept. I loved the descriptions of “the quiet” and the world and characters seemed well-meshed out. I couldn't help but want to constantly know more about the story of the two main groups, readers and pushers, and the main character, Darren, felt realistic and likable to me, and his growth throughout the story, from what seemed like quite a selfish man, to one who was willing to risk himself for the friends he made kept me rooting for him throughout. This is definitely a book I would recommend, not just to those who like sci-fi, but to just about anyone who loves a good story, and I’m very excited for the next books in this series!.Score: 5/5

Follow Darren while he begins to discover his abilities for thought reading, falls for a girl named Mira, and discovers he's more talented then he or the world He lives in ever imagined. Authentic,Well Done Paranormal FantasyAs a fan of audio books, I know what works, a great story coupled with talented narration of which The Thought Readers had both. I enjoyed the authentic paranormal fantasy storyline detailing the psychic adventures of mind reading, central character Darren, this turned out to be engaging as well as an entertaining listen. The book moved at a steady pace with distinct moments of excitement, humor, emotion and romance which were well - presented with the adeptly consistent narration of reader Roberto Scarlato, who did well with the characterizations, especially when it came to character’s accents. I would definitely recommend The Thought Readers and look forward to the next audio book in the series..Score: 5/5

Like P.K. DickI have been more into non-fiction recently and wanted to engage my creative side. I have been a sci-fi fan for sometime and The Mind Readers is one of the best books I have listen to recently. The story is fascinating as the concept of "The Quiet" reminds me of the altered states central to P.K. Dick stories and will certainly appeal to his fans. The ability to see the memories of and thoughts of anyone and physically inhabit them would be immense. Anyone who is into fantastic sci-fi with unexpected twists would be well advised to pick up this book and I will certainly be purchasing the next installment in series. Great book..Score: 5/5

The Thought ReadersI didn't want to put this book down. It kept my attention planted. I must say...the last time I read a book this fast was when I was in the military. Loved itI really enjoyed listening to The Thought Readers. I am an avid sci-fi reader, and this book had my attention from the beginning to the end. The narrator did a great job of distinguishing the different characters. The characters are all intriguing and interesting. Darren, the main character, has the ability to read minds Don't we all wish we had that ability? I only wish that this book was longer, because I loved it and would have liked more. I can't wait to read more by Zales. This book is definitely one that you need in your library!.Score: 5/5

Great Story Great storytellerThis book follows a man, Darren, who throughout his whole life thought he was the only one who was able to stop time and see what was going on around him and able to walk around while everyone else was stopped, stuck in time. Until one day he sees someone else moving around with him while he has stopped time. If you have read "The Mind Readers: Stopping Time" then you know something about the story. The person he was moving around time with was Mira. Darren tracks down Mira and her brother Eugene in an attempt to find out more about what was happening to him. He learns that he is what they call "a reader" . The other connection between them is that both of them had both parents murdered. This story is full of mystery and intrigue. Stopping time, reading minds, splitting into other dimensions. There is a good storyline and the narrator is very good. He told the story very naturally and I liked his voice, perfect for telling the story. I am getting more and more interested in listening to the books of Dima Zales. Great read!!I purchased this audiobook and was completely hooked by the second paragraph. This book is full of suspense, adventure, and fantasy. The characters seem so real, as if I am in the story with them. The entire book is written in first person and the narrator does a great job at making it feel real. This book leaves you thinking, "Is it possible? Could this happen?" I was very disappointed when I finished the book because I didn't want it to end. Good Story and Great Storytelling!I have always enjoyed the subject of telepathy and other types of ESP, so of course this title interested me upon seeing it. That, as well as the author Dima Zales, who I have come to really enjoy. The concept of the story is pretty original, and there were some things I didn't see coming ahead of time, which always makes a story better. The narrator was good, but I thought he could have put a bit more emotion into it. The story is written in first person, and when I "self talk" in my head as the main character does, I tend to have a lot more emotion going on inside my head than what was expressed by the narrator. Nevertheless, his voice is easy to listen to and didn't distract from the story as I have found some narrators' voices do. It's definitely a good listen that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre. I'm looking forward to the sequel!.Score: 5/5

A fantastic modern science fistion story!(Spoiler free!) Being a fan of science fiction, I am always on the lookout for good, engaging stories. I don't normally listen/read sci-fi based in the real world (I prefer more fictional stories), however I found 'The Thought Readers' to be a wonderfully engaging book. The concept is interesting right from the start, as we re introduced to Darren, the protagonist who can essentially stop time around him - what he calls 'The Quiet' - while being completely unaffected himself. The way he narrates this to the reader/listener is engaging and draws you into the world, I found myself eager to learn of his next experience with 'The Quiet'. The pace of the book is fairly rapid, with interesting events and scenarios on a very regular basis. Combined with the excellent storyline full of unexpected turns, there is never a dull moment, and I was hooked from start to finish. In fact, my only complaint is that it was all over a little too soon! As for Darren himself, he is certainly a likeable protagonist. The author does an excellent job with his development as he changes slowly through the story, creating a very well fleshed-out character that you truly care about. The Narrator is also good, with a nice consistent voice and decent character distinction. It made for comfortable listening throughout the story.Though I most identified the voice with Darren himself, as the ebook is told from his point of view. If you like Science-Fiction with a modern twist and a genuinely intriguing story, then pick this b.Score: 5/5
