Terrible. The first book was a good read but this second book felt like a jumbled mess of science fiction notes intermixed with Christian religious themes.

Finally.. Finally, someone goes into the DETAIL of an alien invasion, considering many angles, rather then just glossing over it. Reads like a history book from the future for those that want to consider all angles today!

Yes. This is an archetype for a good novel. It has everything.

Headache. These three books I really tried hard to grasp, understand and LIKE just a little…but Headaches are all I got.

Superb Vision Hobbled in Translation. While I have nothing unique to add to the encyclopedic praise for C Liu’s trilogy, I want to explain why I gave Dark a less than 5star review. In a word the reason is, translation. The translation of Dark pales in comparison to the translations of 3 Body and Death and has the potential to blur the author’s superb vision and themes. A number of people advised me to just skip book 2 when I told them that I had started the trilogy. At some level the advice was understandable, Martinsen’s translation is cumbersome, redundant and at times, monotonous. But it would be a mistake to allow the quality of the translation to divorce the reader from Dark’s underlying brilliance. I’d relish the chance to read an English translation of Dark by K Liu.

The second does not disappoint. Many 2nd books in a series let you down. This one only got better. With the same look into the human souls as heart of darkness this books makes us ask many questions about what humanity and survival means.

Profound, strange, discouraging, and hopeful.. Not to mention an intricately plotted story that is mixed with lyrical passages of often stunning beauty--a story that relies on suspense not to string you along but to actually deliver something "profound, strange, discouraging and hopeful" all at the same time.

Seemed more dense than was part one. Perhaps it was the different translator, but the dialogue in this part of the trilogy seemed more mechanical than did that of the first part. The novel is less literary than The Three-Body Problem.

Congratulations on winning the Hugo award!. Well deserved. This is the one of the best, most exciting sci-fi novels I have read for a long time.

Stopped. The previous book in the series was written much better, I couldn’t get through this one.

科幻的巅峰. 大刘作品中的世界观总是十分奇特与令人震撼的，这部书也是一样。但和大刘其它大多数作品不同，这部书当中包含着十分多的哲理——和一些社会现实。你甚至分不出谁才是书中的主角——这样的一个世界就十分真实了，不会像有些书，情节是不错，但读起来感觉世界上就只有主角团那几个人一样。《三体》的三本书都是绝伦的，我很倾佩刘慈欣的想象力与语言表达能力，我愿意称这个系列为“世界科幻小说的巅峰”。 总的来说，这本书的情节就是“既在意料之外，又在情理之中”的。

Outstanding. Riveting and profoundly moving. Worthy of the awards this author has won. I appreciate the careful translation that brought the richness of the Chinese language through to English. Thank you for a truly entertaining and inspiring read.

Favorite one of these three. Fantastic

I couldn't put the book down. Three Body Problem started the series well and Dark Forest ended it well. Once the clinax hits ai couldn't put the book down and I kept wanting to know more of wbat would happen. This is a great book and ended the series well. A lot of people say the third book is great but I think where this book ends was perfect and another ending would just not necessary I recommend this, made me feel bad for rhis society and that is how you know it was a good book because it makes you feel for the people in this world.
