Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was an American poet, born in 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She is known as one of the best poets in the world and her poems are read and studied by readers and students. Writing for her own soul and for her own pleasure, without the intention to present her writings to the world, she wasn’t famous during her years of life, but after her death. When she died, her family found 1800 of her poems, which were later published.
Her poetry was influenced by the people she met in her life and by the Metaphysical poets of the 17th century in England, the Book of Revelation and her raising in a Puritan New England town. Her poems are written on the themes like nature, life, music, medicine, religion, fashion, death, love and immortality. She had a rare talent to give an extraordinary vivid description of the abstract concepts presented in her poems.
