STEAM Coded Tangrams by Jay Nick Book Summary
Tangram puzzles have been used for centuries to learn shapes and develop spacial skills. There are 2 section of the book, with the first being the tangram puzzles. The second section of the book explains how to code your own tangram puzzle using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), a web standard. A template with the code is included in the book and available on STEAMcoded.org website. Everything is explained so that the reader can create their own tangram puzzle from puzzle images widely available on the internet, and then see it solved as the shapes are animated into their tangram puzzle outline.
This practical and fun approach helps anyone learn to code while practicing the principles of STEM and creating Art. Author, Jay Nick demonstrates how to create Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) tangram shapes, then rotate and position them to solve a tangram puzzle. All done with a simple text editor. Save the file and open it in a browser - all you need is a computer, nothing more.
