A perfect Historical Romantic Fiction novel.. This book may very well be one of the best things to happen to my book-nerd book obsessed heart in 2019.😍 This is the first book by Noelle Salazar and let me tell you, she knocked it straight outta the park with this one. This is based on a group of women who trained pilots during WWII and they were a kickass group. From the first few pages I was wholly pulled into this world. From nervous and tentative flushing out of romantic attraction, to the fear, adrenaline and horror as they watched/experienced the attack on Pearl Harbor... these pages are steeped in so much feeling and history. Sometimes I get my hands on a book and I start fangirling like a lunatic... this is one of those books. Historical fictions fans, fiction fans, fans of words, do not miss out on this book. It is a note of perfection flying above a sea of books. (You see what I did there?🤓😂) I have read this book TWICE! Two times despite all of the other books I have committed to reading while trying to live life. Both times I did not want to put it down. I’m a raving fan of this one. A Page Turner That You Won’t Want To End. How can I even start to describe this book? Breathtaking, emotional, hilarious, it’s all of those things! I always look for characters that can capture my emotions and make me want to continue turning the page, and Flight Girls did just that for me. The main character, Audrey Coltrane, is a one-track minded woman working in the WASP program for the military and she will not let anything distract her from her goals. That includes falling in love with a man, which of course she does. But the romance is not the driving force of the book. I personally don’t like romance driven plots, so this was perfect for me. Audrey takes journeys across the country, both in a literal and figurative sense, and grows as a person in ways that she never thought that she could. She celebrates big success and suffers big loss. I could feel everything that was happening and never wanted the book to end. But sadly, all good things must come to an end. I will not give you spoilers, but if you enjoy WWII settings from a woman’s perspective, along with an emotional roller coaster, (in a good way), then give this book a read!

Just wow!. I loved this book. It was amazing. As a woman who’s been entranced by the sky since I was a very little girl I can understand every emotion she has about flying. It’s the thing you crave as if it was oxygen. I can see so much of myself in Audrey. Never wanting to come down to earth and never wanting to get married and all that nonsense most girls are suppose to want. Then finding out you’ve falling in love and you certainly didn’t mean for it to happen. You get pure mad at yourself about it. This book made me laugh and cry. I felt the pure joy when she was up in the air and the absolute hollowness she felt losing the people she loved. As an avid bookworm there are very few books that I will reread. The list is very short. But this one. It will definitely be on that list. It’s a must read. Seriously.

Very good book. I really enjoyed learning about the women who helped the WW2 war effort with their flight program. This book is a fictionalized history lesson that keeps you spellbound with the story of a young woman who loved to fly.

Flight Girls. I loved everything about this book. From the stories of the brave women who served their country with no thanks, to heartwarming and deep friendships they formed, to the romance, it captivated me from beginning to end.

Great read. Interesting and lively.

Eh.. It was fine. I stuck it out because some of the storyline was decent, but it was undercut by the sub par, shallow (and at times super cheesey) writing. The main character leans way too far into the “so pretty she attracts attention but hates the attention” and “I’m a strong independent woman and I’ll never get married because love is frivolous” caricature. Her family is super rich and well connected, and she uses that throughout the book to her advantage. In fact, it’s half the reason why/how she ends up “accomplishing” her dream of owning an air field. Not really a prime example of “independence.” It’s also just exhausting waiting through all the idiotic, nonsensical, and narcissistic reasons why she won’t admit to having feelings/pursue her feelings for her love interest. She literally gets mad at him for not writing more frequently while he’s fighting in WWll?!?! All in all, I feel like this story could have been told much better. It didn’t really do justice to the historical inspirations the book is based on.

Outstanding, authentic . read!. Julia Kelly wrote a compelling story with depth and accuracy of WWII’s start on Oahu. My grandparents and Mother were on Oahu, watching the Japanese planes bombing the island from their back yard! I appreciated Julia Kelly’s capturing the essence of the Aloha Spirit, along with warm fragrant plumeria trees that embody Hawaii. I read with a wary sense at first, because the people of Hawaii are very patriotic and I didn’t want the story to be a shallow Harliqin version of WWII. Quickly my wary sense turned to respect for Julia Kelly. I relaxed and gave over to a satisfying read with excellent themes and characters I would enjoy meeting. Well done, Julie! Amazing book! Definite must read. I purchased this book this afternoon, just looking for something to read to pass an hour of my time. I quickly became engrossed in the storyline and couldn’t put it down and read it start to finish in one sitting. Absolutely amazing read. I just couldn’t stop to find out what happens in the end. Definite must read- I will be telling everyone I know to pick up their own copy.

Outstanding Read!. At 70 yrs of age, I was born after the war but remember well when the WASP’s were recognized for their heroic activities. This book is well written and develops in a way that you don’t want the book to end. It ends well, though as all good books do. You will not regret reading this outstanding book!

Loved it! Ready for her next novel! Must READ!. I picked this book up while doing my last minute shopping for vacation. The cover caught my attention and the summary drew me in. I don’t get to read as often as I used to and my goal was to read one novel during my vacation and I’m SO glad I picked this one. I loved the history and loved learning about these amazing women I had never heard of. The romance in the book was as drawing as the historical aspect. It was a perfect mix and I haven’t read a book this good in a long time. The pages were filled with intense emotion and Noelle pulled you into the pages with her excellent descriptions of what was taking place. I found myself smiling, laughing, furrowing my brow in disbelief, crying and falling in love with the characters and becoming committed to their stories. It was hard to put down and while I wanted to get to the end to find out what happens I also didn’t want it to end either.

The Flight Girls. Such an amazing story of these brave women. I loved every minute, even those when I couldn’t stop crying. The ending was wonderful! Thank you.
