Silas Marner. Beautifully written and fully realized

Silas Marner. Great read

Okay Book. This is a book that I had to read for school. It is a hard book to keep you interested but once you start understanding it, it is not that bad.

English Class Read. I absolutely loved this book! : ) I had to read it last year for English class.

Silas Marner. As a high school student, I read this book 50 years ago. My mother was interested and read it then as well. It has stood the test of time. A setting distilled to the essence, and splendid characters reflecting a time and place found only in old sketches and forgotten memories of England before she became an empire are what make this expertly crafted tale a gem in the rough. George Elliott is the pen name of Mary Ann Evans, and I am still a fan.

Silas Marner. I had to read this book when I was in high school. That was 1966, and it has been a desire to reread it again. I must have used the Cliff notes back then, because this time was very enjoyable.

Typical George Elliot-heartwarming and Uplifting. George Elliot's illustration of the hopes, desires and disappointments in her characters, reach out to touch our own lives, and with each book read, I believe we are never the same, being richer for the reading. Through every walk of life, every station in life, each character's soul is bared and left open for our own hearts to go out to them in each page of her books. This book, Silas Marner is no different than all of her presumably better known of her novels, and in fact, the author stated favorite of all the novels that she had written. It is well worth the time to enrich one's heart by reading "Silas Marner"

Silas Marner. The book has a great message and a really good story, you just have to get through how hard it is to understand!!

Endearing characters, timeless affection. I first read this book as required reading high school literature class. I then thought of Silas Marner as simply a curious literary character. Returning to this story after becoming a mother has made it dear to my heart. With folksy speech and deep insight, George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans) endears characters in a timeless way.

Excellent!. Silas Marner is a very good book in which one will learn several lessons.

Starts slow but ends fantastically. While the book may start out slow and perhaps a bit downing, the ending is certainly not going to disappoint. A great book for anyone who enjoys the romantic style.

A timeless classic. Ah, but what we deem to be an utter loss can things yet turn over to a greater gift than ever we could imagine.

Classic. Classic story. Great lessons. Overall a great book to read.

Roy. Excellent reading, great ending. Thank you for writing such a wonderful book.

Wonderful classic novel. Silas Marner by George Elliot was one of the classics we had to read in High School English class so many years ago. I remembered how I loved the story but had forgotten many of its details. Therefore, I decided to reread it again. It is the story of how a lonely, bitter miser's life was transformed by a small child who accidentally came into his life. Though he had lost all of his beloved money, she became 100x more dear to him than all the money in the world. It is not easy reading because of the extensive vocabulary used by the author, but you can highlight any word and get the definition.

What a storyteller! Enjoyable.. For a women in her time, she had a rare insight to human nature.

A student's view.. I read this book as part of my GCSE English Literature course. Compared to Eliot's other works, this novel seems to be more "fable" like; guiding the reader through family values and life lessons such as money can't buy happiness. Overall, a good novel which takes a little time to get into.

Silas Marner. Beautifully written short story. Relaxing in the hands of a master story teller. A simple moral tale of quest and triumph of good. Wonderful vocabulary and rhythm.

Silas Marner. Truly a wonderful read. Plot is masterfully put together and makes for a pleasurable read of centuries-old lifestyle, all the while never completely knowing the truth of some characters.
