Excellent. Maia is a beautifully written book by one of the greatest writers of our age. It is a prequel of sorts to Shardik (An even better book) and it brings to life the pageantry of a decaying empire and highlights the struggle for freedom of its slaves and citizens.

Fantasy for adults only. Great story. My only complaint is the lack of proof reading. Spelling errors abound in this edition. It should embarrass the publisher.
