Great Read. Great Book, honest, it’s like hearing her speak.

The writing was ok. I enjoyed the stories and following along to how she got to where she is now but I found a few spelling typos in the book that made me lower my review.

Good read. Amazing book

Great great read. You did it, Angie! Congrats on the book. This is literally the first book I've ever purchased & I enjoyed it. Angie brought me back to the good days of music and that whole Newyork/golden era of rap scene. While I was reading it, I heard Angie's voice in my head; this book is VERY her. I love it!

Amazing. It was like reading the soundtrack of my life! I walked down memory lane with this one. Light and fun, full of hard knock lessons and a confidence booster. Great summer reading. Hip hop you are the love of my life!

Who is Angie?. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love how Angie was able to tell her story. It was like I was able to hear her voice, tone, humor, anger, and occasional sadness through these words. I'm from Texas so I didn't have much familiarity with her on radio or as an artist but just based on my brief exposures to her on YouTube, the breakfast club ( which led me to purchasing this), and the book I was I've taken quite a few gems that I hope to use today. Great job!

I love you Angie Martinez. Amazing book, i wish it didn't finish. I felt all the words, all the chapters. I was definitely connected.

Even more impressed than I already was.... Angie Martinez ... Wow. What a sensational story. As a Puerto-Rican from the Bronx and a fan of hiphop I've always looked up to Latinos involved in the culture including miss Angie but I wasn't aware of so much of her story and I was glued to every page. Now when I hear her on power 105 I light up even more. And I understand so much of her story and honestly could apply a lot of the inspiration she gives in her story to my own life. Kudos Angie.. As part of the culture I Thank you. As a Latino I thank you. And as a fan I thank you. Great read. 💯

A journey through the birth of hip hop history. Great book, very inspiring.

An Unexpected Gift. I stumbled across this book and I figured why not it seems interesting. It was amazing! We are about the same age, I also grew up in the Bronx so it was so relatable. It was like having a conversation with an old friend peppered with great nuggets of wisdom. Her writing style is very enjoyable, I can "see" what she is describing in words. I couldn't put the book down.

Great read.... Read it in two days, brought back a lot of memories from the era she was talking about as well as learning behind the scenes. Ang deserves so much credit of being a part of almost every historic moment in hip hop.

Page Turner. This is definitely a MUST read book. Very inspiring and enlightening. Love the Tupac interview...!

The voice of New York. Growing up in NYC, this book re-took me through all the events that occurred in hip hop. Angie tells the story from her point of view and I got to see if from a journalist position. I was moved, inspired, and every other emotion you can think of. I want to thank Angie for writing this. In this age where social media makes every event a blip, I got to feel again what it's like to live in the moment and soak in the present time. Excellent book.

Does Angie ever disappoint us??. U literally feel like you are sitting there with Angie when she interviewed Pac, or when she called Mary J. Blidge to borrow some money. She took us back to 9/11, as well as Senator Barack Obama's campaign trail to become president! I loved the book, so many important event throughout history being told for her point of view was amazing. And the pictures in the back were a plus to put faces with all the names in the look like Lorena and Pec. Must read! I repeat! Must read!

Honest Recount of a piece of history!. Great book! It was an interesting and easy read. I read this book in a day. I wanted to keep turning the page. I'm glad Angie decided to put her history in a book where people can read about hip-hop, the culture, radio, loyalty and be inspired for years to come! Great job! Wow ... Just Wow. I have listened to you since I was a kid and from the moment I started reading I had tears in my eyes. Partially because being Latina and a NY'er I am proud of you. I invested my ears on your voice for years. When I was living in Miami and you were now syndicated I was ecstatic. So to read your story and know that you can be from a single parent home and make it this far just shows that as long as you want it and you want it that bad you can have it!!! Real!!!. Amazing book! A must read!

Great insight and inspiration. Angie Martinez is a true representative of hip hop culture, Latinas and women! Very detailed experiences and insight on the hip hop culture shifts, radio and her impact through it all. Absolutely appreciated chapter 4 California Love, chapter 5 Unbelievable and chapter 10 Heart of the City. A must read. Finished in a week! Couldn't put it down!

Each story that she shared ended with a lesson to learn and something to apply to life. Definitely a must read! Congratulations Angie Mar on everything!

Inspirational. I love this book so much! I constantly think about it when wondering what my career choice should be. I would love to work in radio. But since I didn’t put in the work that Angie did, then I feel like it’s no point. She’s so passionate about what she does. I just want to find that same passion in something. I just love her and glad she decided to share her life with us!
