Couldn’t Stop Reading. This book was an amazing insight into the people that put their lives in danger to allow us to sleep soundly at night. I am slightly ashamed that these people are not rewarded accordingly for the level of risk they take and then not fully supported financially if they are forced to leave the service due to the result of being in the service. Rant over, buy this book!

In awe..... Didn’t want this book to end! Great read!

Mr. An excellent book, but with gaps. The author writes in the way that he probably lived. Fast staccato bursts, reminiscent of the hyper-vigilance he clearly needed when working, giving much information in very tight detail, but few broad brush strokes to give breath to the wider picture. Also, I have to ask, is there some sort of super-secret M.I.5 breakdown service? He and his colleagues seem to leave cars all over the place. How do they get recovered?

Amazing story of life in MI5. Marcus shows us the professionalism and dedication of MI5 operators and the versatility they need to show in handling the different types of threats to the UK. It's also a riveting and exciting page turner

Poor in my view. The only one criticism is the author seemed to believe he was above everybody else, for example going to far in a training exercise and physically hurting an instructor. The people who were training him should of seen the warning signs and realised this man was highly likely to be an unsuitable candidate. Shame I guess when most operators keep this world secret for ever, some just can’t.

Excellent book. Reading the personal sacrifices individuals carry out to protect the freedom of others reminds me how lucky we are to have the ability to plan our everyday lives without worry.

Self en indulgent crap..... Got tired very very quickly of this guys ego and really is like it’s written by a teenager. Very very disappointed. £3.99 wish I could have back. Really poor

Absolutely amazing. A real dream come true for me to get such a vivid insight into the life of someone that’s part of MI5. It blew my expectations completely out of the water. The robot like talents you’ve got put even make believe action hero’s to shame. Thankyou for sharing your story and a massive thanks to you and your team for your service.

Great insight into a world that protects us. From beginning to end this book is inspiring. Learning about what others go through to protect us all is securing and humbling. Thank you to the author for everything you and your colleagues have and are doing :)

Great book.. What a a great read. Loved it. So much so I read it again a few months later whilst on a long flight. Highly recommend this book. Best I've read in a good few years. Would like more of the authors story's.

Compellingly Brilliant!. Couldn't put the iPad down with this compelling read. Downloaded after a plug on a certain UK daytime show, and I'm glad I did. TC's story gives a glimpse of his mindset, actual threats and personal demons our spooks live with on a daily basis. Mind blowing... They are truly remarkable people! If only we knew half of what was going off... Then again, ignorance is bliss!

Gripping, easy to follow.. Brilliant read. Easy to follow and completely realistic (it is a true story and feels like one).

Riveting. Someone left a hard copy at my work. Quiet shift so I flicked through the first 4 or 5 pages... lost three days then as I simply couldn’t put it down!

Mesmerising, gripping. I have always been interested in the dark less known part of our society, the side that protects us whether on home soil or abroad. Tom gives a glimpse of what’s out there! The world we take for granted and often overlook... love the read and look forward to more of Tom’s words.

99 Pence? Feel like I’ve been conned. As a former serving soldier I felt like writing this book off straight away. Certainly wasn’t like the army I served in. Read on and started to think that James Bond really was an awful spy compared to this guy. If this was presented as fiction it would be much more acceptable.

Soldier Spy. This book is one of the few that I have ever read from start to finish in just a couple of sessions. It's an absolutely riveting account in which the author brings to life his world, making you almost feel as if you're there with him. He's a perfect example of the phrase "unsung hero"

Brilliant and gripping. For anyone interested in the secret world of spy’s and national security this book gives a rare and truly real sense of what it takes to keep the country safe. A great book to read simple as that.

Fast paced, personable and well written. Read the book over christmas - the author has managed to find an addictive mix of pace, covert descriptions of operations and most powerfully you can associate many of his thought processes and experiences with the modern world - although no ordinary person can ever expect to be under so much persistent stress. Very enjoyable and would definitely recommend.

Solider Spy. Gripping read almost throughout.

Take with a pinch of salt. I’m no expert by any means, but I generally feel that someone who has to tell you how amazing they are whilst belittling everyone else three times a page is not totally confident in themselves. Get used to the tagline “Risking His Life To Save Yours” because you will hear it every other page. I’m not sure how much of this is fake, but by the terminology and tactics he discusses he clearly has some knowledge of Surveillance etc. I’ve read numerous auto biographies of Police Officers in Surveillance, Armed Units and many Special Forces soldiers all telling a very real and accurate portrayals of their lives and roles, the overwhelming trait of all these people is ‘humility’; something ‘Tom Marcus’ could do with learning.

Soldier spy. I noticed some of the people reviewing made comments about the author being a Walt Mitty, I completely disagree it seems to me the writer has used writing the book to exercise some of his demons, and actually managed to produce an excellent book full of chapters you simply have to finish and begin the next. During the book you get a clear sense of the pain felt by the author who has been clever in his descriptions and story telling of under cover surveillance incidents and operating procedures.

Respect. Brilliant book, total respect to the author and our security services!! Goes to show why we are the best in the world!

Great Read. Great read very gripping

Great read. Read this book in a day, one of those books that you really empathise with the author but also get great peace of mind from. I read this a week after the Manchester bombings and after reading it feel that we are safer for the work MI5 do.

Read both in 24 hours AMAZING. Incredible incredible read, it’s been a while since a read a full book in 24 hours but I actually finished this one of an evening and then woke and read I spy by the morning - absolute must read and I applaud the author for his service and dedication to our country and wish all the best for him and his family. Just absolutely incredible.

Best book I’ve ever read!. When a friend recommend this to me, I was excited yet open minded as to how I would revive it as the reader.
