Action & Suspenseful Try and Sleep. Firstborn picks up right where The Progeny ends and it is action packed and suspenseful. When I finished The Progeny last year I couldn't wait for book two, and while I had to wait it was worth it. Audra is facing the past she tried to get rid of and racing against the clock to save the man she loves. This race takes you all over Europe and Tosca's descriptions are so vivid and real you can not only see them, all of your senses are engaged. The main thread through these two books are acceptance of yourself, who you are. Realizing you can't change the past but you can change your future. Tosca is a favored author for me. I anxiously await her next book, and I try not to read it in one sitting. Highly recommended!

Kept me guessing to the last page!. Tosca Lee is a master storyteller who weaves a labyrinth of twists and turns that'll leave you wishing to go back to the first page and read it all over again. Could not have loved it more! Thanks again Tosca for another lovely addition to my library.

BUY THIS BOOK. Having been a fan of Tosca's for years now, I can easily say she makes it easy to be one. With each book she cements my admiration and respect for her as a writer and storyteller. Firstborn is as fast paced as its predecessor, Prodigy, but really is another story that can stand on its own without feeling like a necessary companion to the first. The rich fabric of this underground world that has existed for centuries is woven seamlessly throughout the plot, and is as much a character as the main ones. The dialogue and expressions of the main and side characters are developed, quick, witty, and paced fast enough to draw you in but not so fast that it removes their depth. This fictional world Tosca has created of the descendants of Elizabeth Bathory creates a writing universe into itself, and one in which there are MANY more stories to tell. Do yourself the favor and stop reading this review, scroll up, hit “Buy Book," and go read it. You'll be very glad you did.

FANTASTIC!. Sometimes it’s difficult to dive into a sequel without a little memory jump start. Have no fear! Tosca has taken care of you and masterfully wove in all the reminders you would need. Managed to do so without irritating me, boring me, or being repetitive. I love how amazing she is at this thing called being an author. I don’t know how she does it. But I digress… I absolutely loved this book. The character development is fantastic. Easy to envision. Beautiful setting. Sigh… Running all over Europe? Even if I was running for my life like Audra I am pretty sure I would still enjoy myself! Specially in those pretty dresses!! Just enough angst to be balanced and not mellow dramatic and irritating. Tosca has done a fabulous job making this a good book for many ages. I have been and always will be a fan. The woman is an absolute poet and weaver of words. Imagery, action, love, humor, this book has it all. Buy it!!

Even Better than the first. Welcome back to the continuation in the adventures of the progeny: men and women born with innate abilities that assist them to compel people to their will. The audience meets right back up with a few favorites: Audra, Piotrek, Jester, and many more. Audra has been charged with an impossible task as she must find the diary of Elizabeth Bathroy, her ancestor. But more importantly, she must find a way for her people to no longer fear that each moment may be their last. The stakes get much higher as Audra holds her daughter for what feels like the first time. Can she put the hunt to an end? Can she save the court? How many people is she willing to risk, and who can she trust? Lee has done is again. Firstborn is the sequel that readers have been waiting for—better than the first novel which is a hard thing to do. From cover to cover, Lee’s writing has her audience engrossed with relatable characters that live a life of nonstop adventure. As this author has done in each of her novels, Lee creates a world that will envelop the audience with her wordsmithing capabilities. It is rare to find an author with the refined ability to stop a reader for a moment to reread a passage simply for the passage’s beauty and complexity. If you are looking for fast-paced adventure that will leave you reeling but immensely satisfied, then check out Tosca Lee’s newest novel: Firstborn. Lee has her audience captivated until the very end. I’ve been waiting for this novel since I was given the chance to read The Progeny. One thing that always helps make a sequel more enticing is when you can finish the first book and have an absolute need to pick right back up with the next book. Firstborn does not disappoint as the story continues from the last page of book one right into the first sentence of the sequel. This book is highly recommended if you enjoyed the first book, like Lee’s work, or are looking for the next novel to whisk you away.

A Great Conclusion. What a great read and well worth the wait. Full of twists and turns. I sat down with the intent of slowly indulging in this book, instead I devoured it. Despite my plans I stayed up reading until the end. The thought that is put into her books (and the thoughts they provoke) are one of the reasons that I so very much enjoy the novels that Tosca has written.
