Joulu oli aina ollut vaikeaa aikaa Jamesille, niin myös vuonna 2010: entisen huumeveikon terveys reistaili, rahaa ei ollut sähköön, ei lämpöön ja hädin tuskin ruokaan. Siksi jäisille kaduille oli pakko lähteä kitara ja lehdet kainalossa. Pikkuhiljaa uskomattoman lämmin joulutunnelma tavoittaa ystävykset. Vasta kun unohtaa itsensä ja saa huolehtia toisista, viriää todellinen joulumieli. Tämän ymmärsi vaikeudet voittanut James kissansa Bobin avulla.
James Bowen tuli nuorena ja täynnä suuria suunnitelmia 2000-luvun alun Lontooseen. Jouduttuaan pian kodittomaksi James sai unohtaa muusikkohaaveensa. Kadulla James alkoi luisua yhä pahempaan huumekierteeseen. Vasta vastuu kissasta muutti hänen elämänsä. Eläintenystävät alkoivat kiinnittää huomiota uljaaseen, oranssiin kissaan, joka istui katusoittaja-Jamesin jalkojen juuressa. Nopeasti Bob oppi viihdyttämään katsojia, ja itseään, erilaisilla tempuilla. Korvaushoitojen ja Bobin avulla James sai uuden mahdollisuuden; hän alkoi rakentaa itselleen ja kissalleen hyvää elämää. James Bowenin ja Bobin elämästä kertova ensimmäinen teos Katukatti Bob (Streetcat Bob) ilmestyi suomeksi keväällä 2014, toinen osa Bobin maailma (The World According to Bob) ilmestyi keväällä 2015.
