Cliché. Louna's mom is a wedding planner and randomly Louna has to organize weddings with an annoying but cute guy. What happened to the overcoming the dysfunctional families in Dessen's books that made you laugh and cry with the characters? This book could basically be the summary of all the weddings a person may go to in their entire life: a lot of fluff

loved it !!!. had me on the edge of my seat till the very end. well written as always ! waiting for more to come 😬

Once & for all; a good read. Good characters and plot. very enjoyable young love novel

Much Better Than Expected. "Once and for All" exceeded my expectations. I really didn't care for "Saint Elsewhere" and so was unsure if I'd like this one, but it was pretty decent. I liked the secondary story outlining the relationship between Louna and Ethan better than the primary storyline. I thought it was much more emotional and thus it drew me in more than whatever was going on in Louna's present. What I appreciated this time around was that, for once, the parent wasn't at fault! Dessen follows a pretty simple formula for her books: teenage girl is jaded, has at least one cynical/poor parent, and then discovers a love interest that leads to life altering self-discovery. It was really nice to see that Louna's mom wasn't at fault for anything. Even though she and William did have dim views on marriage and love, she wasn't beating Louna over the head with the pointlessness of matrimony, the evils of monogamy, or female empowerment (hello "Along for the Ride"!). She was actually a pretty supportive, if workaholic, mother who listened to Louna. What I didn't appreciate was the teenagers-fall-in-love-after-one-night-together-and-I'm-going-to-give-my-virginity-to-a-boy-I've-only-known-just-as-long angle. (There's my cynic coming out for you.) I definitely understand the need for establishing a deep connection right away, because without it, Louna wouldn't be so sympathetic and broken, but really?? Use some discretion here, Dessen. And the whole "I love you" thing? Considering they were just teenagers and had only known each other for a handful of hours (after a wedding and a long, romantic night walking the beach *sigh* (eye roll)), it simply wasn't believable. That's what I call lust. Or infatuation. I'll give them love after all those long hours talking and texting (aka: actually spending time getting to know each other), but not before. Secondly, I thought it was a bit of a stretch to say that once a girl, in this case Louna, decides to start serial dating, boys are going to just drop in her lap. I get that it was necessary for the point of the story, but come on, that's super unrealistic (or am I being cynical again? No, don't think so.) And Ambrose? I'm on the fence with him. I want to like him, I really do, but he was not endearing the way other male love interests were. In fact, I was more taken with Ethan than Ambrose. His player ways rubbed me wrong, especially given what he says in the end. It just isn't copacetic. Sure he was quirky, but I didn't understand his quirks. I didn't understand his happy-go-lucky, carefreeness in spite of people thinking him annoying, etc. Usually, that's a mask for something deeper yet there didn't seem to be much "deeper" when it came to Ambrose. Last note. I missed all of my character drive-bys! Her books are usually chock full of previous characters and this one was practically anemic. At any rate, I gave this book four stars mostly because I kept reading and finishing a book in two days has to mean something, right? At the same time, my inner cynic reared its head. I am highly skeptical about teenage love, much less teenagers who are “in love” after only 10 hours. However, those emotions served a purpose, which I can appreciate, and that doomed love story drew me in and tugged at my heart strings, so kudos Sarah Dessen!

💖💖💖. As I've come to realize with all of Dessen's characters, they are so lovable for their quirks and imperfections. Ambrose was no exception - in fact I think he was a favorite, coming second only to Dexter (from This Lullaby) who still makes my heart happy just thinking about him. The way this was written was beautiful; jumping from backstory to present in order to explain Louna's views on love and life. In a topic that could've made the protagonist annoying depressed, it simply made her relatable, and the chemistry between Louna and Ambrose was nothing short of balanced. I loved it!

Cute. Very fluffy, I liked the character development! This story reminded me lightly of "This Lullaby"... loved it although I would have liked to see a deeper side to Ambrose than just his happy-go-lucky, carefree attitude.
