Fun read. Enjoyed it very much!

Humorous & Romantic. First Earl I See Tonight, is a delightful well-crafted historical fiction romance, with likable characters, witty dialogue, and an intriguing plot. Fiona Hartley became frantic when she received a blackmail note, demanding money in exchange for silence. Her sister’s parentage was about to be exposed. That discovery would undoubtedly devastate her sister and ruin her reputation; not to mention the humiliation the entire family would suffer. It wasn’t as if Fiona didn’t have the money to pay the blackmailer; she did. Fiona just couldn’t access it, until she was married. So Fiona did the unthinkable. She proposed marriage to an aloof moody Earl, a stranger, really, who Fiona knew, was short on funds. David Gray, Earl of Ravenport, was curious about the marriage proposal he received. Not that he was looking for a wife, he wasn’t. Being jilted by his fiancee, Helena, fixed that for him. Helena changed her mind about marrying the Earl, the moment she stepped into his crumbling estate. Gray was sure that Fiona would do the same. But Fiona, Gray discovered, was not Helena. Fiona was warm, trusting, compassionate, and beautiful. The more time the Earl spent with Fiona, the more confusing his life became. First Earl I See Tonight is a humorous, entertaining romantic read. If you enjoy reading adult historical fiction romance, with a touch of mystery, this book is for you. Be ready to pull an all nighter.. Just wanted to read a few minutes before bed, but it's now 2am and I'm wide awake and writing my first book review. Amazingly written, so romantic and witty characters that kept me in suspense until the end. Can't wait to read more!

Interesting Premise that Didn’t Fully Deliver. First Earl I See Tonight is my first read by Anna Bennett. I received this arc from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review. The story starts off with an interesting premise. A heiress, who’s family earned their wealth, is being blackmailed with a secret about her sister. The only way she can payoff the blackmailer is to propose marriage to an English earl who’s in desperate need of money. I enjoy a woman who takes the less conventional path and goes after what she wants. I also enjoy a man who is devoted to his family and only wants what’s best for them. However, to read this story, you need to just go with the flow and not ask too many questions. The first half of the book was ok, but by the time I figured out who the blackmailer was, I was over it. The reasoning behind the blackmail, the way they figured out the secret and the hero’s dealing with the blackmailer were all disappointing.

Captivating!. Captivating! I was totally captivated by this intriguing, tender and suspenseful historical romance. These characters will touch your heart and a the romance is filled with wonderful tender moments that at times took my breath away. Fiona Hartley is desperate, a shy, but rich, debutante, who is being blackmailed. Wanting to save her family from scandal, she proposes to a handsome Earl that is in dire need of the funds, that she can supply. But after being refused by the woman of his heart the Earl of Ravenport has decided that marriage would not be in his future until he could take care of his estate, finances and his grandmother. But what starts out as a way to scare off Fiona, he invites her and her family to come and stay at his crumbling down manor house. But the more these two interact, the more they are taken by the other. Will the tender, beautiful moments lead these two a HEA? You will need read to find out. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Wonderful Story!. A desperate debutante, Fiona Harltley needs to marry quickly so she can get her dowry. Her sister is in trouble and being blackmailed and that is the only funds she can get to!! What to do? David Gray, Earl of Ravenport is not in the market for a wife. He has been jilted by his fiance' and it would take a strong force to make him succumb. But he never expected Fiona, a determined young beauty to step into his life. Focused on repairing his crumbling estate, when he receives a marriage proposal he decides to invite her to his country house to let her see how his estate needs significant repair. Good plan you say? Well that is only the beginning for these two. As they interact it made me laugh with some of the humor and banter back and forth. Can these two truly come together with Fiona wanting their marriage to be in name only? With a handsome man and a beautiful lady, I sincerely doubt that would hold! A wonderful start to a new series, this one will keep you entertained until the end! I read this through NetGallery.
