Unbearably Sloppy. Dear Editors. She’s Australian, on one page they use kilometers to the Arctic Circle then in the later half say miles to the Arctic Circle. Did anyone read this book for editing? Then there’s the underlying issue of just general writing where it feels unnecessary lacking in situational knowledge. Like... You see nursing and emergency response this way?

We must never forget or deny…. Reading anything about the inhumanity of man/woman to men/women is heartrending, but so important to understand how truly horrific people can be. Cilka is so real, so strong, in the face of unbelievable horrors and choices. I had to take breaks while reading…but the people who suffered could not.

I fell in love with reading. Cilka’s Journey was the first of Heather Morris’s books that I found and upon finishing it, I rushed back to the book store to find The Tattooist of Auschwitz. The way she tells Cilka’s story is beautiful and detailed. I never wanted to put it down. Keep in mind that I haven’t always been a book worm, but this one? This one is the type of book that will keep me returning to a book store.

Hard to read. Good book but hard to read. It’s incredible to me that humans can treat other humans so ruthlessly and still sleep at night. What’s even more amazing is that there were people like Cilka who were strong enough survive the horrible atrocities inside, be released, and have a life on the outside afterwards.

Great read. Really appreciated this book. Tattooist was also fabulous

Well done. A great book- well written

A great read!. What a great read! I couldn’t tear myself away once I began reading. Heather Morris does a wonderful job of really connecting the reader to Cilka and bringing us all along on her journey through such a heartbreaking time in our history. Although it’s not a necessity to read The Tattoist of Auschwitz before Cilka’s story, what a wonderful feeling it was to have snippets of their journey sprinkled in throughout the book from a new prospective. I highly recommend Cilka’s Journey to anyone who finds themselves yearning to read about the survivors of such a powerful period in history. 

I can’t express how much I loved this book. I listened on audio and it was just wonderful. I love Cilka and so wanted to jump into the book to hug her and be her friend. Such an incredible story

A beautiful story. This story is amazing, and hard to believe at times. I would definitely recommend reading it. I gave it four stories because I thought the writing was only okay. It at times felt unemotional and listy (if I can use that word).

3.5 Stars. Although not overly eventful, it was easy to become addicted to Cilka’s story, her life, and her journey. Not a typical love story, but in so many ways the same feelings of hope and wishful thinking arose during the read. Enjoyed the readings at the end, giving more insight into Cilka herself and her life. Wanting to read Lale’s story now!

An eye opener. I couldn’t put this book down. I thought I’ve read everything I need to know about human suffering until I started reading Cilka’s Journey. Incredible story. The book was written very well.
