Here we go again.... After reading and thoroughly enjoying the Mageborn saga, I sincerely believed that any following work would leave me disappointed. I COULD NEVER HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG. This story starts off enchanting and moves straight to undeniably enthralling. Once again transporting you into another incredibly detailed and imaginative rendering of yet another arcane adventure that is both awe inspiring in scope and detail. Don’t get me started on the characters and plots within storylines within tempting mysteries that weave in and out through this first part of this delightful fantasy. Great read. More please!

The choicest adept. This book is perhaps one of the most imaginative and creative ideas for a magical world. The Characters... In short despite the simplicity of the language used it is an excellent book (to be fair I might have been spoiled by the Horus heresy series) the characters are relatable. In a word, the old man is grumpy, the boy impetuous and the nobles arrogant. It is wonderfully imagined. The story.... Okay, the story Isn’t for the faint hearted. It is quite complex, interesting and keeps the reader guessing. However. IT IS LOOOONG..... The writing..... Is great. It is incredibly easy to read and while sometimes the writer appears to be writing much more simply this gets much better later on in the book In conclusion 4/5 or 8/10

Light-weight Fantasy. Fun but light-weight fantasy. You will find the protagonist annoying but the story is enjoyable and once the action starts it never stops.
