The Crossing Over by Angela Dunham Book Summary

What happens after you save the world? For Ava Chase and Kade Richter, nothing much, unless you count going back to high school as a proper reward for averting the apocalypse. 

Ava is struggling with an identity crisis of epic proportions, but finding out you're not entirely human will do that to a person. Thankfully, she has Kade by her side to confide in, and with him by her side, life feels quasi-normal for a brief moment. Then, a fun day trip to Devil's Head Lake to celebrate her eighteenth birthday changes everything when the portal to Purgatory bursts open, expelling a mass of evil, hungry souls into the world. Desperate to find a way to save her friends, Ava will stop at nothing to defeat the souls, even if that means sacrificing herself in the process. 

Against all odds, Kade made it back from Purgatory. But now, no one recognizes him except for his parents and his ex-girlfriend. Someone or something returned him to Earth and managed to mind-wipe on an entire town. But who did it and why? Kade has to come to terms with his new reality, along with the startling revelation that the powers he had in Purgatory are slowly fading. With nothing left to lose, Kade turns to an unlikely ally for help. 

Life just got weird for Haven Hargrove. Her ex-boyfriend is back from the dead, and no one else seems to notice. As if that wasn't enough, a mystical book passed down from her mother begins whispering to her, beckoning for her to open it. Thrust into the world of witchcraft without proper training, Haven scrambles to help her friends defeat the evil raining down upon them. 

Gabe O'Conner is living the good life. He finally convinced the girl of his dreams to go out with him, and since then, they've been going strong. But after witnessing a horde of souls escape from Devil's Head Lake, Gabe gets a crash course in the world of the supernatural and learns the truth about his friends, Ava and Kade. Feeling lost and confused, Gabe slowly starts to lose track of time. Can he hold it together to protect Liv while the town gets overrun by evil? Or is he just another human soul ripe for the taking?
