Absolutely gripping. I couldn’t put this down and finished it over two days. Great suspense and a really gripping, complex story.
What a read.. Thoroughly enjoyed this, so many genuinely creepy moments. Never have I read a book where I’ve physically jumped from reading such horror. Fantastic. I think I’ve found a new favourite author.
Sinister, creepy, horrific. This book is on the darker side of the crime thriller genre. It takes you to the heart of the evil & lets you really feel it for yourself. Immersive & gripping, it’s a superb read.

The Shadow Man.. Another phenomenal read by the very talented Helen Field. Not of the DI Callanach series, but a notable stand alone, with the same magical recipe, good plot, great villains/ characters , edge of your seat suspense.
Brilliant page turner well worth a read xx. First Helen Fields book I’ve read . Absolutely amazing what a page turner . Read a lot of Scottish thrillers and this is up there with the likes of Ian Rankin and Stuart MacBride. Off to read another one

Intense. This has to be one of the most intense books I have read in a long while. I also found it quite disturbing. There were times when I really found it hard to read on, as it was too chilling. Helen Fields is a brilliant writer. That’s perhaps why I found it so intense and chilling, Fields writing, and storytelling abilities make the fiction real. Love the two main characters in this story. I would love to read more of them.
